Penguins are running through the school in the first flicking game ever to have pieces which curve and jump!
The fun run begins - the rascals are running everywhere and trying to snatch up the fish on the way, but the Hall Monitor is trying to catch each one of them to have some order in the school. Who will be more successful?
It’s not just cool, it’s Ice Cool!
Ice Cool stands out with two major innovations: flicking techniques and a Box-In-A-Box setup. These two innovations add value to the gaming industry.
The special form of flicking pieces creates a new bag of tricks - players can make the pieces slide, curve, jump, dive or bump against the walls.
The new Box-In-A-Box game-board concept is very quick and easy to setup. Each Ice Cool game contains 5 boxes that players fasten together with pins creating an immersive 3D game board in less than a minute.
- 4 Plastic Penguins
- 5 Cardboard Boxes (rooms)
- 16 Wooden Fish tokens
- 45 Fish Cards (victory points)
- 4 Color Reminder Cards
- 4 Penguin ID Cards
The game is for 2 to 4 players. One is a Catcher, others are Runners. Everyone takes a turn of being a Catcher. So number of round equals number of players.
Runners start in a classroom and their job is to slide through the doors and grab the fish. The Catcher's job is to tag Runners and take their ID cards. When a Runner gets a fish, he gets also a fish card. When the Catcher tags someone, he takes the Runner’s ID card. At the end of the round everyone gets additional fish cards depending on a number of IDs they own.
The round ends when one Runner has gotten all fish of his color or the Catcher has tagged all the runners. Now you change the roles and continue with another round. At the end of the game you reveal all the fish cards and the person with the most victory points wins.
Ice Cool is a fun dexterity flicking game that appeals to children and adults alike. The board is set up of five classrooms, using a unique "Box in a Box" board set up.
Players will have to flick their penguins around the school to snap the fish or play as the Hall Monitor to catch the others.

HOW TO PLAY - The penguins are moved around the board by flicking them - with a little practice you can get them to curve and even jump over walls. The board is made up of 5 telescoping boxes that all fit back together easily for quick setup and clean up.
Each round one player is the hall monitor and the other players are penguins skipping class. The hall monitor is trying to catch the other players by knocking into them and collecting their ID card before they collect fish by moving their penguin through one of three doorways.
At the end of the round the hall monitor gets one fish card for each ID card and the other players get one card per fish collected. The cards are worth between 1 and 3 fish (points).
WHO IS IT FOR - Families with kids ages 5 and up.
PROS - This game is a blast! With a little practice you'll be pulling off all kinds of crazy trick shots and having a great time doing it. Very unique and interesting design for a game.
CONS - The board only has one configuration which could get stale after some time.
*high quality game pieces
*the entire game board fits into itself like a nesting doll
*everyone can play on pretty even playing ground. My 8 year old won just as much as I did
*It's the same board layout each time so I could see it getting old after a while. We play it sparingly so we won't be bored with it. Actually this last time we played with just the penguins and did a bocce ball type game to mix it up
*the board is cardboard, not even a heavy duty cardboard but a wrapped game box board so if you aren't careful I could see this getting ripped easily.
Overall my family loves it and it is a unique game that we pull out often to play but it could use some new rooms to add on or some different game types/rules.
My four year old really likes this game. She’s even won a few times because the scoring system has some luck involved in it. Whenever you eat a fish, it’s not just worth one point. Instead, you draw a card from a deck which can be worth 1-3 points.
I definitely recommend this over something like Candyland.
