The pump:
While very tall and rather large in size the pump is skinny and does not hold enough air so it takes twice as many pumps as other pumps this size. I inflated tires for kids bike and it felt like a workout.
The Gauge:
Gauge is useless. First of all markings are not even correct. Just look at the photo. There are 4 bar lines between the tens. SO what is that suppose to mean? each bar is 2.5 psi ? Every normal gauge would have 10 or 5 bars between the tens. (representing 1 psi or 2 psi )
Also the first mark on the gauge starts at 10 psi. So if you need to inflate a soccer ball which needs 3-4 psi there are no marks for that.
The Lock is ok. Takes a number of attempts to get it to lock and start pumping.

Amazon's Choice? It's crap. I've gone back to using the 20 year old Nashbar one that works sporadically but does a much better job. This pump seems cheaply constructed and flimsy. It's awkward to use. The biggest issue is that it takes forever to inflate a bike tire to 90psi and leaks air in the process. I borrowed a Bontrager pump to fill a new tube. The Bontrager completely filled the tire with only a few pumps. This one must take 3-4 times as long. Maybe its barrel is too skinny. The Bontrager barrel was about 2x this one's size. The only nice features are the different valves and pressure gauge. Unless you're only pumping up a soccer ball or basketball, it's completely useless -unless you're pumping for exercise or leisure. I absolutely would not recommend it to anyone. If I hadn't let the 30 day return policy get away from me I would've returned it

Smart valve head isn't so smart.

You start by putting the appropriate connection on your bike's valve stem, and locking it on with a turn. After pumping up the tire you have to turn the lock the other way to release the valve head. Because of a flaw in the design of the 'smart' valve head, the air in the tire is blows out through the 'smart' valve head. My solution so far is to overfill the tire to compensate for the loss of pressure turning the balky locking mechanism and removing the tightly fitting 'smart' valve head from the bike's valve stem. Wish I'd known about this before buying, so I could have bought a different pump. Buyer beware!

HOW TO INFLATE A PRESTA VALVE BIKE TIRE- WITH THIS PUMP 101

Take off Bike Tire Valve Cap
Unscrew the little nut thing at the bottom, 1/4 turn
Pump Level is set to neutral
Unscrew the grey cap on the pump
Unscrew grey portion of cap on pump valve
You'll find a gasket
Insert Grey Screw cap and Gasket onto bike valve
Insert Bike Valve firmly inside open Pump Valve
Lower Gasket
Screw the Grey Screw Cap firmly down, with Gasket inside
Turn Valve Lever Out (Arrow Point at Grey Cap Valve)
Pump 25+ times to reach 80+ PSI
Turn Valve Lever back to Neutral - Expect a short burst of air (not much of a loss of psi from my testing)
If you hear a leak at this point, or any point before this, you messed up the seating of the gasket and position of Bike Valve/Bike Pump - Please reseat gasket - try again, keep trying, no air should leak.
Keep pump valve steady, while unscrewing grey cap off valve's
Once Loose pull away Pump Valve quickly - then pull off the grey cap and gasket
No air should hiss out, throughout this process. Enjoy your inflated tires.

Took half an hour to figure out without instructions. Lots of reviews flaming product, when it's fine - they just don't know how to use it. Partially sellers problem as well, for not sending out more instructions.

Five Months in and Loving this Pump

I have owned this pump for five months and have used it regularly before bike trips, but this weekend was the true test. I took the pump on a camping trip to the beach, where I used it to inflate my schrader tires and my wife's presta tires, both with ease. We use the pump regularly for the bikes, but this weekend it proved especially useful when we got to the beach. Our beach football was flat, so we ran to the trunk and pulled out the bike pump with its attached ball needle. In a few seconds, the ball was back to life. After playing football, we wanted to take a dip in the ocean and had inflatable pool floats with us. Just the weekend before, we inflated them with our lungs (a tedious endeavor), but this time, we attached the BV pump to the pool floats using the attachment provided with the pump, and they were good to go in just a few minutes. It was as though we were in an informercial for this bike pump, at every turn being relieved by the convenience of having it on hand.
This pump works well and feels sturdy. Highly recommend.

Edit: I got an email from the company saying they were sorry it didn't work but that my "... feedback and suggestion is very important and valuable to us. Can't hold valve stem over 90 PSI

Terrible. I ride at 110 PSI. Pump help for the first month and a half, now it pops off the valve stem past 90 PSI. Cleaned the stem, cleaned the pump connection. Still the same result. Contacted BV customer service for ideas and input. No response.

A pump is a pump, right? That's what I thought. But having worked my way through 4 or 5 cheaper pumps I thought I would bite the bullet and spend a little bit more to hopefully get something that might actually work - and this absolutely does!

It's a quality product, very solid and easy to use. I don't use the pressure gauge, just the old school approach of "feels about right", so can't comment on the accuracy of that feature (although it does work).

In short, spend a few more pounds and get something that not only works but will last!

ANÁLISIS DEL ARTÍCULO

Necesitaba una bomba para hinchar los balones, hinchables de verano y la recién comprada bici infantil de mi hijo. No tengo experiencia en inflado de ruedas para bicicletas de carretera ni de montaña pero en vista de los buenos comentarios leídos y con la previsión de tener una en un futuro, compré este hinchador con el deseo de haber acertado y cubrir todas estas necesidades presentas y futuras. Y así ha sido, sin haber tenido que inflar ruedas grandes, puedo daros mi experiencia inflando la rueda de una bicicleta infantil, una cama individual hinchable de playa y un balón de cuero de fútbol. De la bici infantil y el balón de cuero he realizado un vídeo, la experiencia no ha podido ser más satisfactoria.

La bomba incorpora un manómetro que me ha resultado de ayuda para inflar la rueda infantil, le he dado un máximo de 3 bares, suficiente para que estuviera dura. Según indicaciones del fabricante tiene una presión máxima de 12 bares y 160 psi.

Se incluye una aguja de aluminio para el inflado de balones y un adaptador de plástico válido para inflar todos los hinchables que tenemos para el verano (piscina, balones de plástico, camas hinchables, etc...)

En cuanto a las válvulas, comentar que dispone de la Schrader (es la que usado para la bici de mi niño) y la Presto, ambas usadas en el inflado tanto de bicis de carretera como de montaña. Cuenta con un gatillo que tendremos que mover para fijar la boquilla al lado de válvula deseado.

El balón de fútbol de cuero lo he hinchado en 40-45 segundos sin apenas ejercer esfuerzo y asímismo ha sucedido con la rueda de una bici de 14", en apenas 2 minutos totalmente hinchada.

**** He realizado un video con la desmotración de ambos hinchados, espero que os ayude a los que no sabéis cómo se hace. ****

Aspecto físico:

Es de color amarillo, tiene un soporte para enganchar la goma de la válvula sobre el que están la aguja y el adaptador de plástico.
En su parte inferior está la base, donde pondremos los piés para estabilizar la bomba durante el hinchado. Un poco por encima de la base se encuentra el manómetro, quizás un poco bajo para mi gusto tal y como también he leído a algún compañero.

PUNTOS POSITIVOS

- Inflado sin apenas esfuerzo
- Versatilidad: válida para balones, ruedas (carretera, montaña, infantiles), hinchables de verano, camas hinchables, etc...
- Buena relación calidad-precio
- Incluye la aguja y boquilla de plástico

PUNTOS NEGATIVOS

- Que no disponga de manual de instrucciones, espero que mi video os sirva de ayuda.

CONCLUSIÓN

Recomiendo esta bomba a todos aquellos que necesitan algo versátil, que te permita tanto hinchar una pelota como una bicicleta. Aparentemente fabricado con buenos materiales y con los complementos adecuados para cualquier hogar. No puede faltar en ninguna casa una bomba como esta.

Ive only used this once before being asked to write a review so here is my first impression. It arrived safe and sound in excellent packaging. The pump itself appears very well built and of great quality.
I have Presta valves on my tires and had no issue at all just connecting it up and going. The one small niggle I had was the thickness of the air line kept pulling back slightly on the valve and not allowing the gauge to accurately return a reading. Moving further away from the bike by a few inches to straighten the hose allowed much better flow of air. I think it more down to how the Presta Valves work and me needing to adjust to this. The pump handled my pressure requirements no problems and did it swiftly. I am very happy with this pump for the price and highly recommend it

but what a first class pump for the price, just got new voodoo bizango mountain bike, shop built, plus extras small quality pump, boardman ect.
thought my quality tyres where fully inflated felt rock hard, was i wrong, YES.
Got this pump, well packed, super fast delivery, and fitted it to my tyres , pressure showed 40 psi , tyre needs 65 psi max, pumped up to 65 psi and a total difference in riding on road and grass EASY . Buy this pump its easy to use, and VERY well built for price.
Will still use bordman pump for back pack its just as good ., but this pump is spot on for bike maintenence at home.
