I was impressed with the aluminum case rather than the plastic of other flashlights in this price range. However, they will drain three brand new AAA batteries in just a couple hours, which means you'll be constantly replacing the batteries.

Just now, I replaced batteries in one. It turned on for a split second and then went dark. I figured the cap with the button wasn't screwed down properly, so I unscrewed it again and burned myself. Apparently, when they fail, the resistance goes to zero, shorting out the batteries. I didn't realize three alkaline batteries could put out that much current. For a split second, the tip of my finger touched the contact spring under the screw-on cap. It was so hot I lost a couple layers of skin and now have a nice blister forming.

(Note that there's a very hard to see arrow on the battery holder to indicate which end should go in first.) One of them just failed
