Bought the iron in December of 2013 and after I first used it, I thought to myself that it wasn't as good as the Babyliss my stylist used on my natural hair. With just one stroke with her iron my hair was bone straight. I told her recently that I bought one online from Amazon and she shook her head and said "Knockoff". She gave me the number to BaByliss to verify authenticity and sure enough she was correct it's a fake. This explains a lot, like it not straightening my hair, burning my hair, and the paint chipping after using it only 3X. I found out from Babyliss/Conair that it is not recommended to purchase any product with their name on Amazon or Ebay because they are normally knockoffs and neither company make sure their sellers are selling authentic merchandise. So, I got what I paid for, which was crap. Luckily, Jcpenney had the iron on sell for $105 with a 15% off coupon and I paid about $84 for a real babyliss, conair verified authenticity.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT A TRUE BABYLISS FLAT IRON WILL NOT CHIP OR PULL YOUR HAIR BECAUSE OF THE SPECIAL PAINT THAT IS USED AND THE TYPE OF PLATES THEY MAKE.
I love how fast it heats up. The package says it takes a minute, but usually its warm as soon as I turn it on. I keep it at a fairly low temperature though, so your mileage may vary. The plates also heat evenly, no hot spots!
I also appreciate that the cord swivels. I like to curl my hair occasionally with my flat iron and this makes a swiveling cord a must.
The controls are also very straight forward. A power button, a dial marked with the various temperatures, and a light to indicate when its on.
Really there isn't any thing I dislike about this item, especially given the very reasonable price. I would recommend it to just about anyone looking for a top quality straightener.
This straightener heats up to 450 degrees(probably the hottest recommended heat for any hair type). The temperature can however be much lower for those who don’t need a whole lot of heat to get the style they’re looking for. The iron also heats up really quickly, and that makes a big difference if you’re like me and always short on time.
The plates heat pretty evenly with a porcelain coating, but I don’t know if that’s because of the ceramic base or if the porcelain is better at holding consistent heat. Regardless, it’s nice to have an iron without hot and cool spots that get in the way and cost me extra time in the morning. Oh, and I’ve found out that porcelain helps to keep that annoying frizz at bay which is always going to be a plus in my book!

The plastic outside catches single stands of my hair and pulls them as I use it. I don't even use it anymore because of this. Poorly constructed.Published 8 days ago by Andrea M
Works great! Doesn't leave my hair feeling or smelling burnt. I have fine/thin hair so I use the lowest setting and it straightens and leaves it feeling silky soft.Published 10 days ago by Robin Rhodes
