This short tale is part of the author's "Southern Roads" series...a series I was not familiar with before now. The book can be read as a stand-alone, or along with others in the series, if you are so inclined. I felt that the author did a nice job of setting the stage and building her characters within the confines of this tale. All the characters were likable and there were no unnecessary introductions to sidetrack you. I have read a number of works by Stephanie Bond and find her books to be enjoyable but perhaps a bit wordy. Not so with this little story. If you need a quick read with no strings attached or you're looking for a new series to immerse yourself in, give this one a try...It'll fill either bill. Four and a quarter stars for this quickie.

i thoroughly enjoyed this novella about Lora and Barry. Barry returns to Sweetwater intent on only staying a short time but physical therapist Lora captures his attention in more ways than one. While helping him with his PT, Barry fights his growing feelings for Lora, knowing that leaving Sweetwater is number one on his list of priorities.

Welcome to Sweetness, Georgia! Whether you're here for the first time, or you're returning for a visit, I think you'll enjoy this short sweet story about learning to face your past while trying to move forward.

Barry Ballantine has come home on leave from the Navy after being injured in an IED explosion. His goal is to perform a service for a friend and get out of Sweetness as soon as possible. However, he quickly finds himself in a situation when he runs into a puddle of water that hits a jogger on the roadside, soaking her from head to toe. Little does he know that he's fixing to come face to face with his past, and that it's going to be a pivotal point in his life.

Lora Jansen grew up in Sweetness, Georgia until the twister hit the little mountain town and demolished everything. She was bullied by her classmates and teased unmercifully by Barry Ballantine and his buddies, so the last thing she needs is Barry Ballantine coming back to Sweetness and humiliating her again. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happens when she's out jogging thanks to Barry and a puddle of water on the roadway.

Barry and Lora both have to face their past and try to move forward with their lives, but the chemistry between them is strong. Can they get along long enough for Barry to complete his mission? Can Lora put aside the hurtful past and provide the physical therapy Barry needs to be more mobile?

I love this author and I love this book. The town, Sweetness, she has created and the people that populate it is a place you want to go back to again and again. Barry is a swoon-worthy hero and Lora is a strong heroine. I consumed this book in record time. I believe I have the whole series and they are all SO worth getting!!! Always a good book for when you're craving a good romance.

Barry Ballantine returns to his hometown of Sweetness, Georgia with special wooden box. In this short story the military men and towns people honor a fallen military dog, Silky that gave his life in the service of his country. A love story starts to develop and Barry finds a new home as a military hero adapting to his new limitations.

This story honors both men and animals that put themselves in harms way to serve our country.

It was a good story. The wounded SEAL returns to his hometown to bury his service dog. The hero lost a leg and is trying to adjust to the missing limb and his feelings about all of it. The Physical therapist is an old classmate. This is their story. Oh, there is another dog involved and he helps with the healing process.

I thought it was a cute easy read. I enjoyed it and found it entertaining. You root for all the characters and you want them to find happiness. I would recommend it if you need something for just a few hours of reading. Sweet story.

I have broken my rule of NEVER EVER BUYING very short under 100 pages books, I am glad that I did. I love the Southern Roads story and I loved this one also. I just really wish it was a lot longer and more in depth.
