Also people don't ever emerge the machine in water it will not work after you do that! To clean it you simply take a cleaning wipe from either Babyganics or Lysol what ever you prefer but don't do it!
One glitch with the steamer is that you must make multiple batches if you are making larger ones for storage! It would be nice if the darn thing was bigger but it's not so if you are gonna make big batches you probably want to do it in a large pot with a strainer insert so the fruit or vegetables don't touch the bottom of the pot!
Also if you need to get any new parts for it just remember that they charge you a per shipping charge so for example if you need a new cooking tray and a lid ok it's fully covered under warrenty but they charge you 3.99 per item to be sent out so if you need new parts over two or three your best bet is to get a new machiene all together it's cheaper that way!
As for those instructions!
Can be found on Pages 5 & 6 of the booklet!Read more ›
Understand, this is not built for storage batches; this is ideally used on the fly when you need something for this feeding, and maybe the next, but when you have a hungry baby, and you realize you haven't prepped what you wanted to give them next, you can have it ready in 10-15 minutes, overall. It takes me nearly that long to bring my water to a boil, let alone cooking time. It's good for an apple, or a few carrots or apricots, and even a medium sized sweet potato (although the latter three are far better baked, I've found; it's a good backup). I had a plum and apricot cut, steamed, pureed and mixed into her (homemade) yogurt earlier within ten minutes, and she loved it. As a bonus, I've made myself hardboiled eggs on the fly when I needed something to eat, and to be out the door in 15 minutes; it was wonderful.
If you only plan to make larger batches, then this is not for you, you'll run far too many small cycles back to back (with cleaning between, so you don't get the base gunked up) to be useful, and will only frustrate yourself, but if you make your babyfood the day or time you need it, then this is perfect, or if you put up batches to freeze via another method, and do smaller batches between, this is also a good shot. I suggest cleaning it immediately after use, however (to save yourself trouble and frustration), and at least rinsing between batches while you're using it.Read more ›
I'd been researching Amazon for a regular "adult" food steamer so that I can use it for steaming all kinds of food, not just baby food. Most of these "baby" products come with a premium and do less, so this Baby Bullet steamer was not on my radar as a potential purchase.
However, at Toys R Us, after a sale and coupon, I got this Baby Bullet steamer for $24 on an impulse buy. I've been using it for about a month, and I now regret the purchase.
1. Steams eggs perfectly
2. Saves counter space
3. Walk away from it worry-free (automatic shut-off)
1. Plastic cover warps after a few uses
2. Steel plate does not detach and cannot be washed (can be wiped only)
3. Not recommended for dishwashers
4. Tiny (may be a PRO for you)
5. Poor construction and feels flimsy
The Pros are nice, but they are not unique to this product...I believe there are better options. The biggest con for me was the size. I should have gotten a bigger steamer so I can use it for steaming other foods as well as baby food.Read more ›
