Dr. Paige Brennan is an obstetrician. Working with babies, she is ready to be a mom. She has given up on finding the right guy, so she is artificial inseminated. Matt who is a private investigator sees her ad for a roommate. He ask if he can move in. She says no. When her house is almost broken into, she changes her mind. Having a guy around for extra security can't hurt right? Later on she has a sneaky suspicion that Matt is her donor, and the father of her child. The book talks a lot about each of their jobs. I thought it drug in parts. I would have liked to see more about the couple and less about what they do for a living. Over all not a bad book. It did have depth. I just didn't care for it too much. Don't take my opinion to heart. I'm sure there are lots of books that I love, that you wouldn't care too much for.

I enjoyed the entire series of ten books. Predictable but enjoyable reading. Be sure to start with the first book in the series to really get the full benefit of the series. I would recommend the series.

The Baby Dilemma
Harlequin American Romance # 1400
April 2012
Jacqueline Diamond

The 8th book in the Safe Harbor Medical series.

Dr. Paige Brennan had overheard detective Mike Aaron call her an Amazon, when they were attending Dr. Nora and Leo Franco's wedding a year ago. Then every time that Mike would run into Paige, he would tease her. Paige just wanted Mike to go away. But then Mike partner and foster brother Lock was going to marry Paige's friend Erica Benford. So there was no way that she could escape seeing Mike again.

Mike and Lock had lived together, but Mike wanted to find a place to move so that when Lock and Erica returned from their honeymoon they would have the house to themselves. And, with the baby on the way, Mike didn't want to have to hear their new born cry. Mike had decided that he didn't want to be a father, so earlier that year he started donating his sperm a childless couple have a chance at parenthood. As Paige was going down the hall on the second floor where the sperm collection rooms were located, she noticed Mike Aaron looking at the bulletin board that was near the nurse's station. He had just taken a piece of paper down that Paige knew that she had put up for a new housemate.

Paige place was on the beach and she loved it, but the house next door was rented out to weekly renters though the summer. The renters would have a lot of loud parties every night, and then just up the street was a halfway house for convicted drug abusers. Paige didn't want to rent to Mike, but when her house was broken into Mike convinced Paige it would be safer if he was living there. Paige then has to tell Mike that she was pregnant; she had gone to the fertility treatments at the clinic.

In Safe Harbor, obstetrician Dr. Paige Brennan wants a baby, but prefers no man in her life. Thus she chooses artificial insemination. She may have reconsidered if she knew the sperm donor was Mike Aaron who called the six- footer an amazon (see Falling for the Nanny). Their next encounters were not much better.

Paige needs a roommate while Mike needs a room since his brother is married (see The detective's Accidental baby) and does not need a chaperone. Reluctantly, she allows the irritant private detective to move into her place though she sets rules. As their attraction grows, Paige begins to believe Mike is the anonymous sperm donor while Mike begins to want to become the father of the child she carries by marrying the mother.

Although the plot has been used frequently, fans will enjoy the roommates' gender war as Jacqueline Diamond returns to Safe Harbor. The romance between sleuth and the doc is fun as an unborn serves as the matchmaker between two fighters falling in love.
