I would love to read another story about Ivy and Harrison as they pursue their relationship further. It would be interesting to see how they progress to their final HEA.
I urge you to read every book written by this talented author.
I suspect this will be a “bridge” novella for a potential new series in Edge Ridge since this is where part of the story happens , and it had some crossover characters from the Misfit Inn series as well.
The story centers around Ivy Blake and Harrison Wilkes. Ivy is a very successful author of thrillers, though she has a male pen name. At the moment, she has hit the infamous writer’s block and decides a change of scenery might help her get inspiration. Harrison is an ex- Army Ranger , who carries a great deal of survival guilt for the men he lost in battle. He takes up the offer of an isolated cabin a friend has up in the mountains of Eden’s Ridge. He meets Ivy literally by accident and rescues her in the snowstorm. As well as help her with her book.
The chemistry is evident but life has a way of creating chaos . Each one thought the other had left without looking back.
It’s a sweet story, with interesting main and secondary characters. I can easily see stories for some of them. It’s also a story that highlights the effects war and loss has on our returning troops. Reminding us that as a society , we need to do more to help them integrate back to civilian life.
My only but in the book, was that I found the ending a little abrupt. It seemed more like a prequel where we will likely get more on the main characters in future stories. Not sure if that will happen here.
I was gifted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Kait Nolan is a Eden’s Ridge/Misfit Inn novella. This is another great addition to this series!
Ivy, a best-selling author who has writer’s block and decides she needs to find a place to relax and get her mojo back decides to book a room at the Misfit Inn. While on the way there a Winter-gaddon Snowstorm hits while she's driving a bear appears in front of her car and she goes off the road and through the guardrail. No cell service and trapped in her car…luckily Harrison, who is also a writer, ex-military and hiding from the world is on his way back up the mountain and sees the guard rail down so he stops to help, he doesn’t want company but he is closer to his place then town and with the snow falling faster its safer to go to his place. Neither is ready to admit that they are stuck until the roads are cleared and he can take her back down the mountain and get on with his life and she can find her happy place to write. Except Harrison helps Ivy with her writer’s block and the words start flowing, when she leaves her writings laying on the table he reads its only to discover his favorite author is a woman…Ivy.
After the roads are cleared he takes her to Misfit Inn but they both miss each other and the bond that has started taking place but...can these two find a way to be together permanently or will Harrison let her go because he doesn’t think he is the right man for her and lose the bright star in his life??
