Emma's clock is ticking. She split from her cheating fiance, quit her successful Silicon Valley job and bought a winery and is now learning to appreciate the slower side of life in the country. Except, the only thing she can't approach slowly is her ticking biological clock.
Dylan is angry with his pumpkin patch owning neighbor that he is even entertaining the idea of selling his land to the new girl in town, the aggravating Emma Haverford. He wants that land to start growing vines again for his family's farm and to keep his dad off his back. Nevermind she offered 10K ovr asking, this guy calls Dylan the "grandson he never had". The nerve of the new girl to try and steal the land to expand her winery! Nevermind that she is beautiful and sassy and his neighbor...
When Emma propositions Dylan about giving the baby making a try for three months and she'll back of the sale he is conflicted. The story only gets exponentially better from there. The family dynamic of the Hunters and between Emma and her sister. The romance that blossoms between Emma and Dylan. It is sexy and hot and sweet and the characters are wonderfully developed. I am so excited to see what happens in the next standalone story, The Troublemaker! Enjoy!
We get to meet Dylan, hot farmer boy in California’s wine country, and Emma, his new neighbor and all around pain in his you know what. They end up in a war of sorts over a patch of land in between their properties. Then Emma makes Dylan an offer he finds very hard to refuse. With her biological clock ticking, she desperately wants a baby. He wants the land for his father. So she proposes a trade, a baby for the land. He wants to say no, but she is very convincing, and doesn’t hurt at all that he’s attracted to her.
Long story short, like I said, the plot is very predictable. But I loved following their path to love. It was honest and funny, very hot in places, and I loved that there were no crazy games from either one.
Next up is Dylan’s brother, Rafe, with Emma’s sister, Carrie. That should be good 🙃
I don't know why I had the impression that they would be younger characters but I was wrong. Emma is actually older than Dylan both mid thirties and she wants a baby he wants the land. She may think he can't stand her but his reasons are mostly easily solved since the sparks are there. This could end up a sticky situation but somehow it becomes more later on.
I like that there was no rushing into things and Dylan thought about it the afters and was pretty amiable about it all. While I think there should be more reasons to consider this is their drama. It turned into him chasing after Emma which is a nice change. Emma was pretty determined to get her way and granted they had tons of chemistry that is hard to deny plus Dylan is harder to resist. The banter ranges from bickering to playful to pretty much a laugh trip makes them together more enjoyable. I was much delighted that also had heartfelt parts that added to the overall story.
