Please, please take this to the hospital with you- you'll thank me later. We did, but it stayed in the suitcase for 2 days because we were SO "out of it" dealing with my c-section,, etc. We had been keeping notes -on loose sheets of paper- of baby's feedings and diaper output (so crucial those first few days). We were also using an iPhone app that proved more annoying than useful. Whenever a nurse or pediatrician walked in the room, we couldn't find which paper scrap we'd written it on. Frustrating and inaccurate. Once we started using the baby tracker, we could see easily all the info in one page, quickly update it and keep us on top of things like expected time of next feeding, etc. I have continued using it and it really makes me feel organized and in control. I carry it around the house with baby, and my husband can add entries using the same format- no more trying to rely on memory to see baby's needs and patterns. Can't recommend enough!

We received our first baby tracker as a gift when our son was born, and initially we thought it was simply to keep track of things so that we could share this info with the pediatrician. As time went by, it became useful in figuring out his sleep patterns, following eating tendencies, and tracking his diaper events if you catch my drift.

This book has become even more helpful since my wife and I split baby duties. It makes it very easy to see at a glance when he last ate and how much or when his diaper was last changed.

Each page is set up like a spreadsheet with columns for napping, eating, diaper change, play, and comments. There are also areas for the date and totalling how much he eats in case that's an issue.

The only things that I wish were different about this book are:
1) It would be nice if the hours had alternating shading, i.e. odd hours are shaded and even hours are not. This would make it easier to see the times.
2) It would be nice if this were available in a loose leaf version, but that's just a personal preference. It would be great to have a thin binder that holds like 14 pages to take in the diaper bag, but then have a large binder for archiving old pages.

Overall, I can highly recommend this book.

First, I thought it was kinda pricey. I thought I could use pretty much any notebook. However, it was a real nice investment- it's totally worth it. I've used one for the first 3 months of my son's life, and now i'm on my second notebook. I am planning on using it one more time until he turns 9 months. This will keep your day with the baby a lot more manageable. Trust me, you won't remember what time you last fed your newborn or how many diaper changes you did yesterday. You won't remember when he started having watery stools or his temperature you checked this morning at 10 am, etc. Needless to say, this is such a precious, invaluable data-keeper for your new life with the baby. I've started using it within couple days of my baby's birth. You can take this to your doctor's appointment and also have others who will be taking care of your baby to use it.

I gave this tracker a good try, but couldn't make it work for my breast fed baby. I found the small boxes restrictive and didn't really like having to draw arrows to indicate the times for each category. I don't tend to be a "get baby on a strict schedule" kind of mama, which may be why I didn't like this tracker. I just wanted to track feedings and diapers for the pediatrician visits and to get a general feel for emerging patterns. I do really like the Glow Baby Baby's First Journal, which has boxes that you fill in for each category and tracks start and end times just for breastfeeding and sleep and allows me to track diapers without having to fill in codes. I also felt the comments boxes in the Newborn Baby Tracker were too restrictive.

This is really helpful, especially since the first day I got for my 5 month old she got really sick and I was able to have the information that I need for the pediatrician. The only thing I don't like is how the times are laid out, but I can deal with that

I've been using this since the day my baby was born (1 month ago) and it is a life saver! It is a great way to track when I breastfeed, what breast he ate from, how long, etc. Plus when pee diapers are changed and poopy diapers. Our Pediatrician is always asking # of Wets and # of Dirty Diapers per day...so I bring this book to our appts and let her see it all. I color code each item so its very easy to tell at a glance when he last ate, slept, or pottied. I plan on ordering 3 more so I have enough to track this entire first year of his life!

I bought this for the mother of a preemie. I think it will be quite helpful in keeping accurate information for drs. etc. during those first few months at home. The baby's health and progress will need to be watched, and I think the mother will find this quite useful. The dr. will be able to see sleep patterns, feedings and amounts, diaper changes and so on. There is a small note section for any concern at any time of the day/night... could put temperature in there, for example, or "fussy" or "vomited" whatever is needed, as long as it is concise and very short.
