I will start with a slight quibble-that some of the playing, in a few of the movements, has a just slightly too-rapid quality we all abhorred from the early days of the original instrument craze. However, THIS IS STILL A MUST-BUY. That's because the individual execution and the ensemble between soloist and orchestra, by the brilliant harpsichordist, and the orchestra is so apt, and exciting, and the recording is so dynamic, clear, perfectly resonant, and with a you-are-there hall ambience, that one simply has to fall in love with these performances. Not to dwell too much on the sound, but the recording engineers have to be especially congratulated. Why don't all CDs sound this good?

If not the best harpsichordist performing today in the U.S., Bryon Schenkman is then without a doubt one of the best. His playing is electrifying, and if you have not had the pleasure of hearing him perform live, then get yourself one of his CDs. They are all well worth the price.
