“Back Door Stranger” is my adaptation of 11 classic blues songs.

Dean Rathje: vocals, guitar, slide guitar, bass.

Song Origins:

“Don’t You Go Reachin’ Across My Plate” is a talking jazz-blues song by Oscar Wills, who recorded it on his 1958 album “Flat Foot Sam.”

Charley Patton recorded “Poor Me” shortly before his passing in 1934.

Howlin’ Wolf last recorded “Rockin’ Daddy” in 1970, on the London Howlin’ Wolf Sessions.

“All Around Man” was written by Bo Carter, a member of the Mississippi Sheiks. He was known for his bawdy blues.

“I’ll Get Along Somehow” is adapted from Blind Boy Fuller’s “It Doesn’t Matter Baby.”

“Back Door Stranger” was recorded in 1940 Brownie McGhee.

“Nobody’s Business” was recorded in 1928 by Frank Stokes.

“She Left Me the Mule to Ride” was written by Sonny Boy Williamson and recorded in 1951 by Big Joe Williams.

“Brother That’s All” was recorded in 1955 by Red Hadley’s Wranglers.

“Musta Done Somebody Wrong” and “One Way Out” were recorded by Elmore James, an American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and band leader.
