I really loved the premise of the story and after reading Back to Life, I jumped right into this book. One thing that I could have done without was Sahara's crying and insistence to "right" everything. At times, I found her to be selfish in her off-again, on-again relationships with Emanuel and Ty. If things were off with Ty, she conveniently rekindled her flame with Emanuel. When things faltered with Emanuel, she would insert herself back into Tyree's life. I was actually #TeamTyree so I was disappointed in the ending.
Another thing that bothered me was the designer name-dropping. Yes, it's essential to set a scene by including what a character is wearing but it was just overkill in this book. I realized Sahara was making bank and could afford to dress in designer clothes, but I just felt it wasn't necessary to tell that in the story.
Let me start at the beginning. Our favorite characters are back! Yay! And some new ones, and some not so favorite characters -.-. You don't know how much I love them. They're so real to me, I connect with them on levels I love and hate. Love because I adore being able to connect with great characters, and hate because they're not real and I really want them to be (if only in me dreams :p). They're growing even more in this book, and being with them every step of the way through the ups and downs feels like an honor to me (that sounds weird I know).
Next up, we have a great plot. It was crazy, those plot twists sent me whirling. I was going insane trying to process this and that, and then when I finally felt I had a handle on things... Bam! I loved every second of it, being kept on my toes helps keep the book from getting boring. And this book was anything but boring, believe me. I wasn't prepared for how this book ended. If I had even had a glimpse of it, I would had fastened my seat belts. All I have to say is there should be a book three (and I want it right now) and I also want four, five, six, I think you see where I am going with this. This was another fabulous installment to a fabulous first book. My heart was racing and I really didn't want it to end. I recommend this book very much. And if you haven't read the first one, I don't see what you're waiting for!
I truly enjoyed both books, although I felt at times that I was on information overload as SO MUCH happens and some of it felt repetitious. Sahara is very "wishy washy" in her feelings for Ty and Emanuel and there are moments where I just wanted to scream, "Put them out of their misery!" However, the pain and the angst of her relationships with each of these men really develops her as a character and we see a lot of what goes on inside her head.
Who does she choose? Well, I won't give away the secrets...you definitely need to read and find out for yourself!
3.5 out of 5.0 stars
I enjoyed the book, but I was overly tired of naming the name brands of shoes and clothes, I got it in the first book that she dressed really well! I still enjoyed the storyline it flowed smoothly, a little too much apologizing! I was glad she started seeing the therapist, until she finally realized that she made her decisions based on their situation and not what she wanted to do! Sahara made bad choices but in the end she finally was able to do the right thing! I really believed that she loved Tyree but she was truly in love with Emanuel!! The baby situation with Emanuel worked out, but I felt bad he was hurt, but I was also glad to see Sahara show up...
The only disappointing thing about the story is that I've finished it and it's over! 😂If you liked "Back to Life" (and if you haven't read it yet, YOU MUST ASAP) you will absolutely love this next novel in the series.
I'm anxiously awaiting the 3rd, go Danielle Allen!!!!
Now onto "Autumn and Summer" whoop whoop!
