The attempted extermination of the human race continues, only the humans now know there are other sentient races in the universe and just how deep the lies they have been told really are.
Humans also learn that magic is real and that most myths, legends and fairy tales are true in essence.
Still the same repetition of vertically opening doors and one instance of using the word pray when it should have been prey.
Still great story telling. Would have given five stars but I find the many unnecessary repetitions of 'vertically' and the same minor grammatical errors as the first book somewhat irritating.
A big plus for no DRM.
Highly recommended reading.

An interesting series, but I suggest you don't read Episode 0, as that confused things for me. As the series develops we find out that the humans in these books have been developed by another race, the Nankuani, to be slaves, and are kept in slavery through chemical means. Slowly a number of humans begin to realize the truth through the secret help of the Knights Templar. This series involves reluctant human heroes, who are supposed to clean up the universe (the only ones capable of it??? Give me a break!). There is quite good character development of some of the persons, but the heroes seem kind of dense. Why would they be the saviors of the universe? However, a well-developed story line that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It was like discover SF for the first time. I got caught up and love this series. It is action pack, thought provoking ideas, and fresh takes on old themes.
I read the first three and then book 0. I like it so much brought 1-9 (Which was so much cheaper then buying 4-6 and then buying 7-9.) I couldn't put it down. So I got this one 10-18. And series just got better and better. Now Mr. Ellis please, hurry up and write some more. I need more of the Star Guild fast.
Update. I read the original series and see above. Now I still enjoyed it but I thought it was too chopper. The chapters were way too short. Some thing started and then some else happen. I was getting whiplash trying to figure out what was going on. Still I can recommend this series.

Dwarves, The Fae, Knights Templars, and a host of Extraterrestrial Beings, all either trying to destroy enslave or save humanity.
Space Battles, Betrayal, losses, Sacrifices and Heroism abound throughout.
An enjoyable, easy well written sci-fi military, space opera, fantasy read.
Recommend you start with the prequel, " The Veil" or Bk1 " The Veil Rising" as each book is a continuation of the last.
Will be keeping Mr Brandon Ellis on my to read list.

In book 2 of this series of books, we will see old hero pass on new ones come to the light. Some are shocked of what they find out about themselves and others. But the story continues to lead us forward, where I am sure new allies will be met and helped. Looking forward to the next book

The first book was okay - not great - but okay. This one is, well, readable. It feels unfocused, like the author wanted to include ideas from several genres, but never quite commits to any of them. Dialogue veers from military strategy to woo-woo things like, "If I'm patient, the universe will dance at my feet and provide the answer." Oy. There isn't tension to drive the action along largely because the characters don't offer much to keep the reader invested in them. It was worth a couple bucks for a light read, though.

I can’t wait for more tales of the Star Guild, the Knights Templar, and all the ancient races across the Galaxies.

Very good sci-fi with a dash of time or galactic travelling as well as telepathy and pre cognition thrown in. The human race is endangered and Earth itself is threatened by a race which has stolen humans and enslaved them. A Psy race which uses telepathy and telekinesis and a large population of Baum which is a dwarf like people also once abducted from earth are aiding humans in their battle to take control of their destiny.
