Dr. Ryan Castle, the soon to be new Chief Resident, comes from a long line of top notch doctors. Dr. Castle arrives to the hospital wooing him and sees the prettiest woman he's ever met. She's the gorgeous, stunning doctor he just shared an orgasm with on the dating app. She's older than him, but that doesn't matter to him. He goes after her with a vengeance.
Lauren is asked to orient Ryan to the hospital. As they work together, their feelings begin to grow. While a relationship with a coworker isn't against hopital policy, it's frowned upon. When Lauren's ex comes back into town, he vows to make trouble for Ryan if Lauren doesn't bend to his will. She pushes Ryan away without explanation. When faced with an emergency, will they be able to overcome their feelings to save a life?
I truly enjoyed this novel. Ryan is the definition of a true gentleman. He cares for his sick mom, loves without restraint, is sexy, and educated! I find an educated man very enticing. After the cheating scandal, Lauren deals with feelings of doubt and wonders how she could've done things differently in her marriage. Can she overcome her feelings of unworthiness to enjoy her HEA? I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
Cardiac surgeon Dr. Lauren Decker is still dealing with the emotional fallout of discovering her ex husband screwing a nurse at work. A year later she realizes that she needs to put some distance between those emotions and find a way to move on. A night of sexting via a dating app has her somewhat rejuvenated but with her career at stake caution wins out and she deletes the app believing she'll never see or hear from Heartbreaker531 again. Imagine her shock in meeting the cocky, sexy man with that incredible face a few days later...and he is now assigned as her new resident.
Hoping to find a place on staff at Graton's Gift Hospital, Ryan Castle is assigned to shadow the top cardiac surgeon as his attending. He quickly puts the pieces together, realizing he knows the woman who's reaction to him is surprise but also one of intimate awareness. While sweet and witty Lauren challenges him at every turn, Ryan is determined to prove to her that even though he is ten years her junior, he is the right man for her. When her past shows up determined to destroy her future happiness, Ryan will have to double his efforts to prove they are destined to be together.
Sweet and sexy love conquers all novel!
I really enjoyed reading about Lauren and Ryan. Lauren had some issues that came from her relationship with her and ex-husband. Ryan wanted Lauren from the very first moment but he could tell she wanted to keep in the professional zone but he was determined for her to see that there was more to their relationship. I loved that this wasn't the typical story and how they both had some issues from their past to overcome. I hope this will turn into a series and I am looking forward to reading more!!
I wouldn't call Ryan a bad boy. He is actually a good guy and sweet. That is not a bad thing and that's the reason I won't count it as a negative. Lauren needed some work as a character, but as she developed I started to like her more and more. She mostly got on my nerves though. She is not one of the good heroines. The couple had chemistry and that's what saved the book and got it lots of points.
I will not say if recommend the book or not and I will leave it up to you. I am leaning towards the "read the book" side though.
