Bring the Heat: 5 stars. Cody and Chelsea were such a great couple, had sizzling chemistry. Cody is the Warriors' newest pitcher and he meets Chelsea after his first game. She's the best friend of his fellow teammate's fiancée, Paris, who has dragged Chelsea to one of their games. I loved how much Chelsea resisted Cody's efforts at seducing her. She didn't have the time, nor the inclination, for an arrogant, bad boy athlete. She had an app/game to finish and Cody would just get in the way of that.
But, she could only resist Cody's charm & their chemistry for so long before she gave in. Once she gave in, though, they were so good together. Cody was so sweet and supportive of her work, and Chelsea was so appreciative of him and even turned into a baseball fan, when she had previously not given two hoots for any sports. Their banter, both before they were a couple, and during, was honestly the best part of Bring the Heat. It was funny and sexy and sweet, just like the two of them together.
Alas, as in any good romance, there was a big obstacle to their relationship, in the form of Cody's psychotic, raging wretch of an ex, who causes no small problems. I really wanted to reach through my Kindle and smack her, she was that vile! Add in the fact that she had made Chelsea's high school years a terror, and Chelsea's insecurities about herself and the strength of her relationship with Cody, and you have some serious drama. Thankfully, Cody, with the help of Paris (she's awesome!!!!) is able to get through to Chelsea and apologize and beg for her forgiveness.
Sweet Spot: 5 stars. I love KB Winters 2nd baseball story, if possible, even more than Bring the Heat. As with all KB Winters' books, it's well written with sexy characters and a strong connection. Like Bring the Heat, it's hot, sweet and sexy. This time it's Trey's story. He's a hard drinking, trouble making bad boy who is traded to the Warriors as a star hitter. Jo (Josie) finds out from her boss that she has the pleasure of following Trey and the Warriors around for 10 days so she can try to get an exclusive interview out of him. Their connection right from the start is sizzling with heat, and snark, and their banter is awesome! She's tough, doesn't put up with his smooth, charming ways, and he's really determined to get her into bed with him. I like how she resists his usually hard to resist lines, and is just herself around him. And I like how he lets some of his obnoxious playboy ways go after he gets comfortable with her.
Spring Training: 5 stars. Grace is a shy, 21 year old student, and statistician for the Oklahoma Warriors (love that name!!) who lives in Florida and goes to college there. She's in town for Spring Training when she catches the interest of the new pitcher, Justin. He's a hot, inked up guy who oozes sex, but doesn't come across as a playboy like most of the other players. He's interested in Grace and he means to have her. It doesn't take long for Grace to fall for Justin and soon they're engaged in a little FWB relationship with a couple of rules: exclusivity, absolute transparency, and no sleeping over. Everything is good until Grace's little secret (actually, make that big secret) comes out and blindsides Justin. How will he react when this secret affects him and his career?
I really like Spring Training. Grace and Justin are super sexy together and a perfect match for each other. She with her shy, untouched personality and he with his gentlemanly manners but hot, dominating manner in the bedroom. Out of all of KB's sports romances, I have to say that Justin and Grace are the hottest couple! Something about them together makes their contrasts really sexy.
Bring the Heat - I loved both of the lead characters (Cody and Chelsea), their sassy comments to one another gave me a few laughs. I had a big grin to end the book on, and didn't want to put it down.
Sweet Spot - I loved Trey, he has spark and knows what he wants (which is Josie). And she knows how to treat him, with witty comments that don't make him more full of himself. Josie is a great character who has strength, without being nasty (which is really the sort of females, I like to read about)
Spring Training - Grace is not interested in a Spring Training hookup, no matter how hot her friend Farrah thinks Justin Calloway and Cody Wright are. She is interested in her stats, but now her friend put that thought about Justin in her head he is starting to look a bit more interesting than these stats she is keeping. Justin has noticed Grace watching him, and is enjoying chasing her, because she is not going to give into his charms easily like the other women and he like intelligent women.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Sweet Spot - Trey is a baseball player who has just been traded to Oklahoma due to his off-field antics. Josie is a reporter who is tasked with going on the teams next road trip to get an exclusive personal interview from Trey. They are very attracted to each other but will Trey convince Josie that their feelings are real and that he is a changed man because of her?
Spring Training - Justin is the sexy star pitcher who is getting tired of one night stands. Grace is a 21 year old virgin, soon to graduate from college and the team’s statistician. Grace does not know why Justin is interested in her with so many beautiful girls hanging around the team. Justin thinks it is cute how nervous she gets when he talks to her but will Grace’s secret destroy everything?
