This book is a primer for little kids to accept cross-dressing and transgenderism. It's all about a girl with a very boy-ish name (Billie) and her friend Jack taking ballet classes. Billie is a clumsy, fast, non-graceful "butterfly" in her class, knocking into people and stomping instead of dancing nicely. Jack, on the other hand, is a graceful dancer. The girls and boys are separated into "butterfly" and "troll" parts. In the end, the big twist (that I saw coming right off the bat), was that Billie and Jack decided to swap parts. Jack would join the girls as a graceful butterfly, and Billie would join the boys as a stomping troll. Their teacher thought this was great idea, of course.

Is it inherently wrong for boys to ballet dance? No. Is it inherently wrong for girls to play the "troll" part? No. But in this day and age, I won't let my kid read this book because I think it's a thinly veiled (if even that) attempt to get kids to "think outside the box" about gender, and consider cross-dressing (which is often the first step toward accepting transgenderism) as A-okay.
