Video and audio are excellent quality - I think someone made a comment about 5.1 - the whole concert is available and sounds great in DTS 5.1 and Dolby 5.1 is another choice. I did not realize how many hits Bad Co. has had - I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Improvements would be a) The usual less camera swapping - these video freaks seem to need to show their talents at showing as many views in as little time as possible (this video is not near as bad as some for changing views - just could be better)and b) the lead singer went to the audience sing-along in 3 songs - maybe 25% of the song in 2 of them and unfortunately way, way too long in one song such that the band almost did not sing the chorus at all - just the audience.

By the way - I have no idea why they made the "hidden" song so hard to find - I found it only by searching the comments of others on the Amazon reviews and here is how to find it: On the special features menu, highlight "Web Links" and press left on the remote. This will take you to the hidden track "Saving Grace" recorded by Bad Company with Neal Schon plus some rehearsal footage for the same cut.

This concert DVD is the reunion of two Bad Company original members....vocalist Paul rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke. Some folks lament the absence of the orginal guitarist and bassist from this DVD, but these guys had retired from live performing by 2001. This DVD is basically as good as it's gonna get for a real reunion.
Dave Colwell takes over in the place of original guitarist Mick Ralphs. Dave apprenticed under mentor Mick during the second incarnation of the 1980's Bad Company....so he does a good job getting the sound and style right.
This DVD does virtually all the big hits of the original Bad Company. Being the fan I am, I was a little disappointed to not hear more album cuts, but I am sure that every diehard fan has his favorites and BadCo can't accomodate every one of them.
A VERY GOOD companion to this the concert DVD of Paul Rodgers in Glasgow, where he does numerous Bad Company songs but also includes stuff from Free, his time with The Firm, and solo years.
I like the setlist of Merchants Of Cool, but I really like the setlist of the Glasgow DVD also. The "Merchants" DVD only utilizes a 4 piece band, while there is a 5 piece on the Glasgow DVD, enabling the songs to sound fuller and closer to the recording.
All in all, I think that fans should own both.

Became back in touch with Bad Company and Paul Rodger's music after the Return of the Champions tour. I first bought the Merchants of Cool cd and after playing it non-stop for three days, had to see the dvd. It didn't disappoint! From the first song, Burning Sky, the heat and the passion of the band came screaming thru. Loved the simplicity of the set and the cool shots of all the band members. The star, as always though, is Paul Rodgers. What he achieves vocally is absolutely amazing to watch. He never cheats on a song, the way he does changes and draws out notes is breathtaking. Good Loving Gone Bad, Feel Like Making Love, Rock Steady and Silver, Blue and Gold really stand out. Love the way he does the Beatles at the end of Rock and Roll Fantasy. Don't like to hear that song any other way now! The jam session of Wishing Well is worth the price of the dvd alone. A must have for any Paul fans.

The DVD Merchants of Cool was an excellent choice for our collection of music DVD's. I knew all the words to every song but the last one and every song brought back ii's own memories. My husband will find a Bad Company concert on one TV channel or another but this DVD leaves them in the dust.
The DVD came in good time, great condition and is much loved.

Just like a fine wine, Paul Rogers gets better with age. This performance makes the original CD's sound amateur. If you can sit still while watching this you'd better check and see if you have a pulse. I put it the catagory with "No Quarter" and "40 Licks" I was playing it rather loud one morning (as usual), my cell starts ringing, I see it's my neighbor calling and think "Oh Boy, she's mad. Answered the phone and heard three words, "Crank it up!"

This DVD is a complete let down. Don't buy this version. The audience was welcomed to join in for every single song which ruined the music video. I am not just talking a few words of the chorus either.....the ENTIRE chorus. I am all for audience involvement, but this was just overboard. I wasn't looking for a "karaoke" or a "sing-along" version, but if you are then this is for you. The audience over involvement was not the only issue with this DVD. Paul Rodgers' vocals were horrible as well. His voice sounded very strained and he clearly could not hit the high notes during the taping.
