Rhino did a great job with the 2 BadCo reissues. The remastering is done by Jon Astley and he did a fine job. The sound is awesome ! The packaging is nice as is the booklet. The biggest surprise are the bonus songs on disc 2. These songs are alternate versions of the songs on disc 1 , b sides and demos. All I can think to say is wow. I am loving disc 2. This cd and cd2 of Straight Shooter are both great. These are 2 of the best reissue deluxe editions to be released in a long time. If you're a Bad Company fan than these are a MUST HAVE ! You will not be disappointed.

When Led Zeppelin and Peter Grant formed their own private label (under the umbrella of their parent company Atlantic), their first release on the label was not a Led Zeppelin album. That honor went to the newly formed “super group” Bad Company (June 15th, 1974). Why “super group”? Bad Company was formed by two ex-members of Free (Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke), Mott The Hoople’s killer guitarist Mick Ralphs, and King Crimson’s uber-bass maestro Boz Burrell. These three groups were high class acts in the UK with a solid following in the USA. The product of these four talents together formed a whole sound which was greater than the sum of the parts. There are some arguments amongst fans as to which is the best Bad Company album, but in sales figures, this debut outshined all later albums, and most critics agree this was an astounding “Debut” from some such an assembly of rock veterans. STRAIGHT SHOOTER, which followed (also being released as a deluxe remaster) was quite good and only sold a fraction less and slipped one notch on the charts to just barely equaling BAD COMPANY. From there, each subsequent release sold less well. I believe that was because this album, the self-titled BAD COMPANY worked on every level possible as a perfect album release.

The most amazing factoid of BAD COMPANY is that every single one of the 8 total original tracks has either charted as a hit single, or has been a classic rock staple on FM radio ever since its release. One song, the bluesy Ready For Love, was actually guitarist Mick Ralphs’ and was previously recorded by Mott The Hoople on All The Young Dudes.

The new Bad Company Deluxe cds are a must buy. The second disc has some real rare gems. The sound quality is not as loud sounding as previous release. It's a nice clear sounding remastering, something like the Led Zeppelin release, that was nice sounding, without the loudness wars.

Awesome stuff, love the 2nd disc with the other versions of the songs. Different lyrics and instrumentations, very interesting for real Bad Co. fans. Also you can feel the Free influences. HIGHLY recommended

Rhino used to be a force in the reissue world – a label genuinely worth getting excited about. Then they seemed to lose the WEA contract that gave them so many superb reissue sets and for the last decade have treaded water with reissues of 'what they can do'. But since their excellent multiple issue of Van Morrison's "Moondance" and the equally brilliant Captain Beefheart 4CD Box Set "Sun Zoom Spark" – they’re back. This time we get two superb 2015 2CD 'Deluxe Editions' of classic rock gems from the Free/Mott The Hoople offshoot band BAD COMPANY - their "Bad Co." debut from 1974 and the equally brill follow-up "Straight Shooter" from 1975. And both are hoisted up by their tight pants with genuinely exciting Remasters and lots of Previously Unreleased outtakes actually worth owning. Here are the bad boy details…

UK released April 2015 – "Bad Co." by BAD COMPANY on Swan Song/Rhino 081227955540 (Barcode is the same number) is a 2CD 'Deluxe Edition' Remaster and plays out as follows:

Disc 1 (34:58 minutes):
1. Can't Get Enough
2. Rock Steady
3. Ready For Love
4. Don't Let Me Down
5. Bad Company [Side 2]
6. The Way I Choose
7. Movin' On
8. Seagull
Tracks 1 to 8 are their debut LP "Bad. Co." – released June 1974 in the UK on Island ILPS 9279 and Swan Song SS 8410. It went to No. 3 in the UK and No. 1 in the USA.

Disc 2 (61:49 minutes):
1. Can't Get Enough (Take 8)
2. Little Miss Fortune (Demo Reel 1)
3. The Way I Choose (Demo Reel 1)
4. Bad Company (Session Reel 2)
5. The Way I Choose (Version 1 including False Start)
6. Easy On My Soul (Long Version)
7. Bad Company (Session Reel 8, Take 2)
8. Studio Chat/Dialogue
9.

This is a very good reissue of the first Bad Company album, which was originally released on vinyl LP in 1974. The re-mastering is good, the overall sound is good and the liner notes have some decent information.

CD1 is just the material originally released on the vinyl LP version, clocking in at about 38 minutes playing time. That's a bit disappointing; a vinyl LP only held about 40 minutes of music (20 minutes per side) while CDs were designed to hold at least 75 minutes. IMHO this re-release should have filled up the rest of CD1 with bonus tracks.

CD2 is a B-side (Little Miss Fortune) and demo tracks from the original recording sessions and clocks in at just over 60 minutes total playing time. There's some good material here, although the demo tracks aren't as good as the final tracks that appeared on the album release. But it's still interesting to hear the gradual studio development of the final tracks on the album release. Two of these songs, Easy On My Soul and the B-side of Little Miss Fortune, didn't appear on the final album release but are well worth having. Easy On My Soul actually appeared on the last Free album before Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke left Free to form Bad Company.

Overall, a very good re-release of a great 1970s album. My only criticism is that the full playing time of both CDs should have been utilized. But, at the time I'm writing this (July2015), the price of this 2CD set is under $15 and at that price I can overlook that critique.

Bottom line: this is a great 1970s album and this re-release is currently my recommended version to buy.
