Picking right up where Damage Control ended, Bad Deeds takes us on one wild ride that doesn't let go until an ending that will leave you wanting more and wanting to scream and cry! We see new alliances start to form in the family, which is shocking, but there is still hatred and mistrust, but these bonds are needed to help save the company from the cartel and from other enemies that are starting to be seen that were just lurking in the shadows before. Shane and Derek have to put their past behind them and all their differences and start to build a truce of sorts to take down the cartel, and figure out how to get themselves out of the mess that they are in.
Watching the dynamic of the Brandon family and how everything plays out in this book was amazing. So many twists and turns and new secrets were unraveled that I couldn't keep up and I was gasping a few times going OMG! The one character that really shined in this book again was Emily. She has shown so much strength in this series and in Bad Deeds she really shines through. She's what keeps everyone sane, and helps everyone see logic and at times keeps the peace between all of the Brandon men. No matter what her loyalty is with Shane and the love she has for him is beautiful. Their love for one another is amazing, and I love watching how they build one another up and how much trust they have in one another now.
This book had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down. I loved all of the surprises and revelations we got, but the ending? Oh wow.. I just can't believe how this book ended, and now I desperately need to know how this series is going to end. Who is going to survive, who isn't, and how will they get out of the mess they seem to be in now? If you haven't started this series, you are definitely missing out. This is a beautifully written series that is a definite must read, but you need to start it from the beginning with Hard Rules. Now the waiting game begins for the last book in the series to see what happens and how everything falls into place....
"Bad Deeds" is the third installment in author Lisa Renee Jones' Dirty Money series. As Emily and Shane's tumultuous saga continues, you can practically feel the tension building, as the author leads the reader towards a shocking cliffhanger that will leave you desperately craving more!
With each new addition to this series, Shane and Emily’s story draws me in even further. While their relationship grows and intensifies, so does Shane’s determination to rescue his family’s company from the corrupt forces that have methodically infiltrated its core. Adding to Shane’s turmoil, is his struggle to reconcile his feelings towards his various family members. There’s his father’s imminent death, his mother’s betrayal, and his brother’s volatile demeanor--all of which serve to fuel Emily’s concern over Shane’s ability to keep his darker side at bay.
Scorching hot and passion-filled, “Bad Deeds” is a suspenseful romance that takes you in its grip and refuses to let go. Waiting for this story’s conclusion will certainly NOT be an easy task!
Is blood thicker than water? Will family stand together? It's high time. Derek reveals his darkness but shows there is more to him than meets the eye. So many lies revealed and truths exposed. No one comes out of this unscathed. Manipulation is the name of the game but with so many players, you need to pay close attention. Keep your friends close and enemies closer...
The ending will leave you gasping in shock and horror. I literally kept saying OMG! OMG! OMG!!
Bad Deeds may very well be my favorite Lisa Renee Jones novel and I have loved most of her books!! Heart pounding, edge of your seat anticipation. I will absolutely be doing a re-read before End Game is released.
The game of cat and mouse with a side of intrigue continues as Shane tries to make the puzzle pieces fit. Who can he trust besides Emily? And does she truly trust him? Where does his mother's loyalty truly lie? How much of a loose cannon is his brother, and just how extremely screwed are they thanks to Derek's association with the Martina cartel? How does Teresa fit into the equation, and do her loyalties lie with Derek or Adrian?
As if that is not enough, Brandon Senior continues to move chess pieces around the board with an endgame only he can see, and the whole family appears to be nothing more than pawns in that game. Then when you least expect it, facades crack just a little bit to reveal humanity beneath the surface in some and the monsters inside of others are revealed. Through all the turbulence Emily is Shane's port in the storm where he can find a little peace but he worries he will have to cross lines to keep her safe that will make her hate him in the end.
The ending is heckuva doozy! There is still one thing that is nagging at the back of my mind that hasn't been addressed here though. Where the heck is Emily's brother in all of this, and is he going to pop up in some unexpected way to throw a wrench in Shane's plan? And now that Shane is ready to burn the world down after the events of the last few chapters, does that plan still exist? That's a whole lot of questions and I guess we will have to wait a few more months to find out!
