Then I was even more ticked when I realized that only three years had laps before the story picks up again and she is only 17. And he is 21. Again...what does a 21 year old guy want with a 17 year old teenager hardly out of high school?
If I would have known these two things before, I would have never even started reading it.
However, I did. And I kept reading for some reason or another. And holy hell. I was captivated.
Asher is a bad boy through and through. Tough exterior and interior, swimmer, smart mouthed, tall, dark hair, different colored eyes, and a pierced you-know-what? SIGN ME UP!
I still couldn't stand the fact that Briar was only 17 though. It made Asher drop in points that he was so attached to a 17 year old. HOWEVER, it was more understandable since they knew each other from the time they were children. I could understand growing feelings, since they knew each other for so long.
This story has a lot of moving parts. It has the same tropes as a lot of romance novels, but it was still an engaging story nonetheless. The sex scenes were HOT. Like some of the best sex scenes I've read in a long while. Asher was so swoon worthy.
Briar and Dash's relationship was sweet as well. They both had messed up relationships with their parents and they had a strong bother/sister relationship. I envy them.
Briar's best friend Nat was pretty awesome too. She was a sweet, caring, loud mouthed, best friend. The kind every girl needs.
In all honesty, all the side characters brought something different to the story, whether they were good or bad.
Then there was the dynamic between Briar and Asher. They knew how to get under each other's skin, but both always loved each other and saw what everyone else didn't see. They were powerful, heartwarming, and lovable. Yet, at the same time, frustrating and dense. Sympathetic, but flawed. Characters I like to read about.
I still cannot get over the fact that she is only 17 though. That's why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. She's too young. She hasn't experienced enough to know what she really wants. If I was still with the guy I thought I "loved" at 17....Lord Jesus, is all I have to say. People change SO much throughout their 20's. So, to me...the story wasn't realistic enough to be a 5 star. I don't know if I can believe their HEA when it happens in the epilogue when she's only 19.
I still recommend this read, but if you don't like the age thing, I wouldn't bother.
I seriously cannot say enough wonderful things about the story. Amazing characters (Adrian.....loved him!!), fantastic storyline, twists that I didn't see coming....this book was just fantastic. Cannot wait to see what is next in this series!!
Bad Habit was fun, emotional, the Roller coaster of emotions that I needed from a book!
Asher is the bad boy we all want to have.. I love the connection he had with Briar, is was perfect. e you all need to read this book, you will be hooked.
