I received an ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the story: slow at first, then really fast paced at the end. The main female character really bugged me, though. I might have fallen for Brody too, though. The author did a great job developing the relationship between the two, and it was fun to read about them getting to know each other better at the hospital. One thing in the plot was so odd I couldn't get past it. Why in the world would the h need to bring HER clothes to the hospital? With two authors collaborating I don't understand why one of them didn't say "that doesn't make sense." Oh well. It was a fairly minor point to an otherwise well developed story. The action near the end is really good, and full of twists. I loved all those surprises the author put there for the reader to enjoy. It left a good feeling in me after that heart pounding suspense.
Part of me did waver between 3 and 4 stars... I gave it 4 because Brody and Jess won me over. Such wonderful characters. I wavered because I kept wondering about the lack of surveillance systems (there is an implied explanation for no video of Brody's crime, but what about at the hospital?) but in the end, I simply enjoyed this story about two people trying to find their way forward, one most definitely seeing the need to be a better person and now wanting to be a better person. I wanted these two to find their happily ever after!
I really enjoyed this book and I especially loved the chemistry between Brody and Jess.
Brody is brought into hospital after being shot in the stomach and Jess is his ICU nurse.
Jess has been living the life of misery for the past year since her husband was killed in a tragic car accident which resulted in her making a tragic mistake at work during the shift her husband was brought in in critical condition. She will never forgive herself for her mistake and basically her life was work and home every day.
All this changed when she was assigned to be Brodys nurse by the detectives guarding him.
This story is fast paced and I read it in one morning as I couldn't put it down.
This had so many twists and turns to keep you entertained and the ending was perfect.
