BADASS IN MY BED is the debut novel from Rae Lynn Blaise and be warned, it is a serial novella. I’m not sure how many books will be in this series, but currently books 2 and 3 are available for pre-order and are available for free with Kindle Unlimited, which is good because I personally think that paying $2.99 for a novella is too much.

Rachel is out with her best friend for their last girl’s night before she moves to Boston to take her place with the Boston Symphony. Before she goes, her friend tries to convince her to live a little, to maybe have some fun with the hot tattooed guy she can’t keep her eyes off of. With some meddling from her friend, she winds up at Dylan’s table and does something crazy and out of character; she takes Dylan home where he gives her a night she will never forget. But Dylan is so enamoured with her that one night isn’t enough and he comes back for not only a second night, but also a date.

Right from the start, you know that Dylan is hiding something about who he is and that he likes that Rachel doesn’t know who he is. He’s very perceptive and surprises Rachel with how well he can read her and what makes her tick. There’s definitely a spark between the two of them, which I think surprises them both considering she’s your prim and proper good girl while he’s your typical tattooed bad boy. These two couldn’t be more opposite yet they connect on more than just a physical level.

The novella doesn’t really end with a cliffhanger, but it does end with Rachel finding out who Dylan is while on her flight to Boston. What she’ll do with this information will hopefully come out in book 2.

“Rachel-who-is-moving” is a good girl cellist leaving Chicago for a job with the Boston Symphony. “Dylan-with-no-last-name” is the tattooed hottie she meets at a bar in her final days in town. He emanates that bad boy vibe, and he’s exactly what Rachel’s friend thinks she needs in her regimented, no thrills lifestyle.

“Something tells me he knows exactly how to make things fit. And style isn’t really an issue when no one’s wearing clothes.”

Mesmerized by his presence, Rachel takes a chance and takes Dylan home. And then things turn steamy, their already simmering chemistry burning hot.

“‛Pretty soon, I’m the one who’s going to be giving the orders….Don’t worry so much, Rachel. I might not be nice, but you’re going to like it. I promise.’”

It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone, finding similarities where appearances highlight only differences. For a shorter read, this one really packs the punch both with the steamy scenes sprinkled with hints of romance and character development that endears you to both characters. There’s clearly more below the surface for both of them. Told via Rachel’s first person point of view, Dylan is a bit of a mystery man to Rachel and though readers should be able to connect the dots, it’s a lot of fun to see where this is going. I’m definitely looking forward to part 2.

I thought this book was good. Not great, not overly cheesy but pretty good. It was short which I expected as it was sold as a novella. I found Rachel to be a bit boring but Dylan leaps right off the page and I can understand his appeal.

I would have read the entire series but when I looked up 'book' two and three, they were $3 for less than 100 pages each. No thank you. I am done, done, done with this type of...marketing. (highway robbery) This author went from a potential for me to hopping right on my 'Do not purchase' list.

This book is an ok beginning to a series. I liked the characters and how they met. Rachel is a very nose-to-the-grindstone gal trying to make it as a Cellist. She is smart and very driven, but now that school is over and she realizes that maybe she should have lived a little. Well she spies Dylan a hot, tattooed guy at a bar and they have instant chemistry and sparks fly. The loves scenes were hot and well written.

As for the rest of the story I couldn't help but feel that too much was being left out, the story didn't feel complete. by the end of it I had more questions than answers. All in all an ok read, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.

Alrighty I enjoyed the book. OK, I more than enjoyed it. I loved it and since it is not too terribly lond, finished it all in one sitting around midnight.

The scene and characters were written well and played out even better. Sure there were some parts that I wish the author had spent more time elaborating on but over it was well written.

One if the two main character were clouded in mystery and hinted at their true nature closer towards the end, while the other seemed like an open book. A very preserved and untouched open book. The combination was as old as time for storylines and had you cheering for the usually unnoticed females in life. Especially by ridiculously sexy bad boys.

The main character, whose name completely escapes me right now, is moving in a matter of three days or so and her best friend insists she needs one last good hurrah before leaving the city. Being obsessed with her studies and having near stepped out of her she'll she politely and quickly turns down any possibilities for jumping on that bandwagon. Then she meets the devilishly handsome, rugged badboy in the booth in the back of a bar. Well, played cat and mouse with their eyes. The more she stared, the more she wanted but told herself every reason why it would not work. Seeing her friend need a pushing hand her best friend played her hand and helped the opportunity get set up for her to meet this perfectly good badboy. One who looked like he could provide the perfect one last hurrah. Eventually as fate always has it, something happens and she ends up finally sitting next to this demi God with the long ragged hair in his booth. Next comes the small talk and the underlining heavy flirting.
