I notice in some comments around the site, though, there is some confusion about the measurements, so maybe I can help. The actual physical size of the buttons this makes (in diameter) is 2-1/4 inches (2.25). However, the size of the artwork you put into the maker needs to have a diameter of 2-3/4 (2.75) for the proper wrap around. Because of the crimping, the actual, visible *artwork* diameter is just about 1/4th of an inch smaller (back to 2.25). It is important to keep this in mind, because that extra 1/4th inch of bleed will not be visible, so make sure to adjust your designs accordingly. Some people seem to be buying 2.25 inch paper punches for this maker, and this WILL NOT work as the diameter of the paper will be too small to properly wrap the button. Unfortunately, there is basically no such thing as a 2.75 inch punch, so you will have to cut out your buttons by hand OR get one of the specialized circular cutters that is made for this size. Keep in mind, although it is slow, cutting out your designs by hand is totally fine because it doesn't have to be a perfect or clean circle since the edge you are cutting won't show up in the final product, just so long as it's reasonably accurate.
Great product- woful recommend to everyone!
While disassembling the five piece ring set that you will attempt to create a button in, you then have to align all pieces of the ring, as well as all four components of the button itself, with laser precision. I wish this was an exaggeration, but we're talking American Sniper level accuracy here. Should the plastic cover fall fractions of a millimeter off center, your attempt at a button is nothing more than a hunk of useless metal and plastic. Maybe Bradley Cooper would be better equipped to handle this contraption.
Sure, I read the other reviews saying that they wasted as many button pieces as they were successful with, but I thought, "no, surely they're embellishing. It can't be that bad."
I wasted just as many if not more button pieces than I successfully turned into functional pieces of accessory. Those attempts that were successful I'm sure are the result of the dark forces and black magic I had to call upon to create one usable piece of kitsch.
Seriously. Spend your money elsewhere.
