A must-have addition to the modeler’s toolkit.

I either used to use wooden toothpicks to mix up my model paints or I’d just shake the hell out of the bottles. It never seemed to do a very complete job and I’d always have some unmixed, congealed paint at the very bottom of the bottles. This little beauty makes that an issue of the past. It’s got a very efficient little agitator wheel at the end of the stem that does a fantastic job of mixing up your paints. Ideal for the small Testors or Model Master bottles. Unfortunately, this doesn’t appear to be usable in Vallejo paint-style 1.7ml bottles due to the bottle necks being too small to accommodate the agitator wheel on the paint mixer. I’m hoping that some day some clever person will invent a work-around for this issue but, until then, these paints are a consistently great value for the money. Maybe they can come up with an interchangeable mixing stem with a smaller diameter “business end” that would work. Of course, you can always use a separate small plastic cup with a wide mouth for paint mixing and this unit might work just perfectly. Regardless, it’s still a nice little tool to have in your bag of tricks for those paint bottles that WILL accommodate its mixer attachment.

I Use My Computer Alot

An absolute must-have for jar paints

Theres no way around this one, if you own jarred paints like Tamiya this is an absolute must have. You can't shake jarred paints because the seal will get all loaded up with paint ruining the seal and it will eventually get in the threads making a mess and your paint will dry out and get ruined. You have to stir it, but manually stirring is a joke and won't do the job especially for metalics that separate too easily, so to ensure an easy thorough mix, you absolutely need a tool like this.

It's an affordable price. They build it as cheaply as it should be without compromising on function. The trigger is nice because it is a hair trigger you can just push enough to turn on and release for off, or you can push all the way and it will click in and stay on so you can take your hand off to. I felt the trigger was a little too hair-trigger sensitive so I lightly bent the metal trigger contact back and it is a little less sensitive right now and is perfect.

I mixes the paint up really well. I would never use this for Vallejo or dropper style paint containers, it doesn't fit and you're better off using m5 stainless steel nuts as agitators for those and shaking them.

To clean the mixer have a jar/glass of water and Isopropyl Alcohol (or whatever solvent dissolves the paint you're using) ready, and when youre done mixing immediatley put the mixer in the water and turn it on again to get the bulk off then put it in the Alcohol/solvent and turn it on again to get all the rest off, then wipe it with a lint free paper towel (I use scotts blue shop paper towels they are lint free). Make sure there is no lint or dust on the mixer wand or it will end up in your paint.

I love certain products that come in jars but hate jars so I transferred all my jarred paints into dropper bottles. Even doing that this tool was still indispensable to ensure a good mix before the transfer. Unless I had no jarred paints I couldn't imagine not having this in my toolbox.

Wish I didnt put off getting this tool awhile back. It works perfect. It does fit in army painter bottles but its a tight fit, would be great if they made an attachment that was about 1mm or 1.5mm smaller for the bottles.

I ordered this because I am trying to reconstitute some old Citadel paints that I got for free off a Facebook auction. Most of the paints were completely dried and really "plasticy". I tried a few testers just using Matte Medium and water and got 2 of out 6 in good condition. The rest were gritty. I got this to blend out the fine grits my tiny mortar and pestle could not. It works WAY better than I had hopes for! The biggest on really only gripe I have is that you really have to have finger discipline on the trigger on this because it comes on SOOO easy by the slightest accidental touch and will splatter paint finely everywhere. Once I figured out how to actually hold it where that did not happen anymore but it took a few "WTF?!!?'s" to get it just right. I took off a star just for that but otherwise I would recommend it in a heartbeat for blending old miniature paints.

I use a lot of Tamiya and Mr. Color paints plus a collection of little square bottles of Testors, some of them over 20 years old. All of these paints will separate the solid pigments from the liquid carrier after setting for awhile. The Badger paint mixer mixes all of them throughly to a smooth creamy consistency ready for the airbrush.

A little technique may be helpful to avoid a paint splattered shirt when using the Badger mixer. First, mix the paint by putting the small metal disc all the way into the bottom of the paint jar to stir up the sediment. Move the stirrer around and up and down in the paint. Usually everything is well mixed in less than 60 seconds. Now comes the potentially messy part… When the paint is mixed to your satisfaction, pull the mixer disc out of the paint BUT STILL IN THE BOTTLE so it will spin off the excess back into the jar and not waste it…then slide the switch to off. I then clean it by giving it a quick spin in a shot glass with a small amount of lacquer thinner a wipe with a paper towel and it’s clean as new.

Works great for mixing Tamiya paints in their jars. You need to keep a good grip on the button as this thing has a lot of power and can make a mess fast. Easy to clean, just dip the head in alcohol and run for a few seconds. Others have warned about he star head coming loose, but mine has had no issues (I'm bad about wack the side of the glass jars). The only improvement I suggest is the manufacturer make the power button a variable resistor or spring-loaded switch. I will be modifying mine to make it easier to handle.

6 STAR SPINNER HEAD-FELL OFF/BROKE AFTER NORMAL USE IN LESS THAN A WEEK

Although this paint mixer is made by BADGER, as well as its branded with its name,within a week of normal use the 6-star spinner head slid down the shaft, = the splines on the shaft where the spinner is splined to was worn, I slid the spinner back into place and hoped for the best, but shortly after using once again mixing my acrylic paint, low and behold upon removing the mixer from the bottle the spinner was no longer attached to the shaft but was now at the bottom of the bottle, I had to fix/repair this mixer by SUPER GLUING the Spinner Head To The Worn Splined Shaft - One would think that a well-known airbrush company would make a hobby paint mixer live up to what one would expect..thumbs down on the quality of the "Badger Air-Brush Co. 121 Paint Mixer" !!..so needless to say BUYER BEWARE!
