We like this a little better than the All Terrain kids Herbal armor DEET-Free natural insect spray mostly because it sprays better and you don't have to spray it on and then rub it in. that said, it is more expensive, and I'm not really sure it is worth an extra few dollars for already-expensive bug spray not to have to rub it in. But if we are in a hurry it is nice and easier while trying to cover three kids with it, two of whom are somewhat dramatic about having to get sprayed down with things. We find the badger spray (and suntan lotion as well) very effective and very safe. It is worth the extra cost to reduce the toxicity that the kids are exposed to. The badger balm is cheaper, but rubbing a balm on the kids is not particularly easy and we don't always get full coverage, so sometimes we start with the balm and as it wears off we follow up with the spray. Overall we like this a lot - wish it was just a little cheaper.
I really like this product. It is easy to put on and it smells wonderful. Our backyard is FULL of trees and it is mere seconds before the skeeters are swarming around you and your little one. I can't say this stops them 100%, but I have a 12 month old, and I am much more comfortable using this than the other products. It greatly reduces the bugs, softens skin, smells lovely, what more could you want?! The ingredients can cause respiratory issues if inhaled too deeply though, so I certainly recommend spraying outside! We've bought multiple bottles and the balm since. I prefer the spray, but the balm does seem to last a bit longer! Happy playing!
For the really mosquito infested areas, this stuff needs applied very often (every 10 minutes) and even then bites happen. it can make the skin burn and with content use in dirty environments can assist in making zits appear after a few weeks. Better than the amount of mosquito bites one would receive. I quit getting ticks on my after using this (went from 1 a day average to none-could have something to do with the season as well) I will continue to use it because it does work and it's not DEET.
Alas, this did not work for me. A friend of mine brought this whenever we went to Thailand, and it seemed to work really well there. My spray (which contained Deet) was literally eating away at my flipflops, so I ended up using her Badger spray, and it worked great.
Fast forward- Here in Texas, the mosquitoes must be either immune to the scent o freaking hybrids. I can't keep them off of me. I actually sprayed my feet this morning, took my dog outside so she could do her thing, and a mosquito landed right on my foot no more than five minutes later, ugh! I would love to say this is a one time freak occurrence, but I was wearing some yesterday on my arms and legs, and while I was eating dinner INSIDE, the one lonesome mosquito found me and bit my wrist twice.
Being pregnant and worried about Zika, I'm just going to have to find another all-natural route. Alas, the hunt for the perfect bug spray continues!
I used it on myself and my 9 month old all summer and we never had any bug bites, my husband, who did not use it (he complained about the strong smell) had itching bites covering him from head to toe. It does have a strong odor but I find it much more pleasant than that of those that I have used in the past and I will probably spend the extra money to get this every year, it is nice to know what the ingredients listed on the back are and know that they are natural.
This did not work for us in Houston, TX. My daughter still got eaten alive after multiple applications. I think she was getting bitten by insects other than mosquitos. Don't use if you are trying to prevent bites from insects other than mosquitos. Unfortunately I didn't realize this I until my daughter was suffering from dozens of bug bites.
This is my first product review but I couldn't help post one. Years ago, I used this bug repellant on my kids and it worked great. Tough to spray sometimes but effective against the pesky black mosquitos in our yard. So, we have an influx of the nasty critters this year and I got some for my youngest, who gets chomped on the most. I decided to try it out while playing catch with the dog. Now? I'm sitting here with 11 new bites from being Or for 20 minutes. I don't know if the formula changed, (it is MUCH easier to spray now), or what, but I guess we'll have to try something else unless we enjoy serving our legs and arms to mosquitos for lunch.
I like the product, it worked the one time I used it. But then everything spilled in my purse, the bottle is not good quality. I would really suggest improving the bottle. Otherwise, I would use it again, just a little upset about the spilling.
