Our story
How we got our start?
Many years ago, our founder Bill Whyte worked as a carpenter. His hardworking hands would often split and crack in the freezing New England winters. One night, he created a simple herbal balm with beeswax and olive oil – and it helped his hands so much, he decided to share it with everyone he knew. What makes our product unique?
Our philosophy of formulation is simple: We create products for the people we love. That’s why we choose the highest quality of natural, organic ingredients to create powerfully pure products that protect, soothe, and nourish. When we get them just right, we share them with the world! Why we love what we do?
Badgers love working in a beautiful, solar-powered building, filled with fragrances of beeswax and essential oils. We love being part of a healthy business making a positive difference in the world. And we love making healing products for the people we love, which has been our mission all along.Product description

I got Badger Night Night Balm tin a few months ago. I was on a kick, testing out a bunch of mild aromatherapy products to help combat stress related to dissatisfaction with my work situation. I tried this - and the products below - because I had liked the Badger balm stick "Headache Soother" (
Badger Headache Soother Size .60z Badger Headache Soother Stick .60z
) very much as a aid for my chronic migraines. Although the scent of that product is light, and wanes swiftly, I knew it was effective and I didn't want a strong scent that overwhelmed my coworkers, either!
Although I will briefly discuss the other balms I bought and tried, I will start with the Night Night Balm. Here are is my brief story and the pros and cons, as I see them.
So, I got this to soothe me before sleep as I was under a lot of stress at work. I rub two or three finger pads along the surface of the balm and then massage into the area of my temples, into the hair, then down behind my ears and into the nape of my neck. The massage and the fragrance combo is very soothing!
Pros:
Natural - I love that this is a natural aid. I have found essential oils and balms made with olive oils and beeswax to be soothing and effective.
Gentle - This product is very gentle. I recommend you exercise caution with new products always, but I use this balm on the skin around my eye and it has never burned the skin, nor my eyes, and I use it to the lash line. Here is the backstory on that:
Each year in autumn, when it begins to snap cold and hot, and my allergies kick in, my left eye waters incessantly for weeks. It is not an infection like pink eye, but that allergic inflammation causes a poorly formed tear duct structure to work badly. I can get surgery supposedly, but that scares me a bit. The worst part really, aside from looking like I am crying at work, is that the constant moisture and dabbing cause my eye skin to become chapped. This balm soothes this issue better than ANY product I have used for the last 15 years. I have used balms without essential oils and balms with other oils, but this one is the 100% best one for me for this unusual issue and I won't be without it. For this odd reason, I would give this balm 1000+ stars, if I could. Though I realize this may be an odd use and most folks won't need such an aid, there are going to be folks with skin chapped for other reasons and they may try this out for more than sleeping because of this reason. It's worth a shot, I say!
Effective - Well, I touched on this above I guess, but to recap, I find the combo of oils in this balm to be calming and great as part of a process to relax for bed - or anytime you need to unwind - but also to literally soothe chapped skin.
Long-lasting - No, sadly I do not refer to the smell, but instead to the tin! It's a small tin at 2 oz, but it only takes a little bit and the tin lasts forever. I use mine daily - and right now in autumn I use it over and over all day long - and you would barely know from the tiny bit missing from the tin. Also, as long as you don't have weird issue like a watery eye, you will find the moisturization from the balm lasts a long time, leaving skin soft and supple.
Cons:
Only one - and I myself don't mind it - but be aware that the fragrance is soft and subtle and it doesn't last long, though I think part of that is due to nose-blindness and that it is indeed a gentle mild odor to begin with.
Bottom line: I LOVE Night Night Balm, and will never be without it. Particularly in autumn and winter with my pesky watery eyes. You may like it for a sleep ritual, or for soothing chapped skin, too!

So, as mentioned earlier, I snapped up Badger Night Night Balm, along with a few others to try, which I will very briefly review here as well, so if you like one product in the line-up, you can see if you may like these other products, too:
Badger - Sleep Balm - Lavender and Bergamot
Badger - Sleep Balm - Lavender and Bergamot (2 oz.) - 1 Pack
- Bergamot gives this sleep aid / relaxation balm a stronger scent than Night Night balm does with its softer chamomile counterpart. It's more pungent and for me the scent seems to last a little longer because of that. I like this as a relaxation aid as well, but it may not be as gentle on sensitive skin. This doesn't work as well for the issue I have near my eye, for example, though that is a very specific and atypical use for these balms, I think.
Badger Balm Stick - Aromatherapy Mind Balm Variety Pack - 3 Pack
Badger - Aromatherapy Mind Balm Variety Pack - 3 Pack
- This is a great bargain! I got three sticks for $16.99 when they are usually ~8-9 dollars a piece. I picked up an extra headache balm - which I find very effective as a relaxation aid for my migraines, along with two other sticks which have great stress busting scents! Very recommended as a good mini starter pack and these are great to drop in your purse or pocket with the handy stick application that will keep oil off your hands.
Badger Balm Stick - Yoga & Meditation
Badger Balm - Yoga & Meditation Balm - To Center & Balance Your Inner Badger - New .6 oz sticks!
- I wish this stick came in a 3 pack bundle but it's worth the cost anyway! It's my favorite outside of the headache soother when I have a headache. I rub this on at work all the time as it is soft enough to not bother people around me but effective in making me smell and go, "ahhhhhh!". I've gotten this as a gift before and the recipient loved it.
Badger Balm Stick - Headache Soother
Badger Headache Soother Size .60z Badger Headache Soother Stick .60z
- I've reviewed this one separately, as this is the first stick I bought from Badger. I love it. It's not going to make a headache go away, but along with other aids, this stick's fragrance and minty tingle are very soothing. I have chronic migraines so I keep one in my purse at all times. Won't be without this one!!

I've been using this on my kids since they were little. They're 12 and 15 now and still like to get a bedtime backrub with this balm. It's not too greasy, but it's smooth and slippery to make a backrub easier, and it kind of melts on the skin like coconut oil (semi solid when cool, warms up to a lotion consistency -not quite liquid- when warm). It smells great too. I don't know if it's the oils, the backrubs, the tradition, or all of it put together, but it still helps the kids wind down and get sleepy...at least the evenings when I don't go to bed before them. They stay up late these days. :)

I got this for my baby (6 months when purchased) to help her wind down in the evenings. We had already been doing a bedtime walk, but since adding the balm (I put it on her temples) she sleeps like a ROCK! And on the nights where I forget the balm, we definitely notice. The ingredients are super pure, which is perfect because my baby has sensitive skin, so I trust the brand completely. My baby loves it, and we are so grateful for it!

I bought the Sleep Sleep version and this one at the same time. I wasn't sure what the difference was but found out when I opened the packaging. The Night Night Balm is for children. This one didn't work as well for me as the Sleep Sleep one. I'm going to pass it along to a friend with a child.

I really love this stuff!! My 1.5 year old was a horrible sleeper and just would not go to sleep or stay sleep at night. Up every 3-4 hours. So we were desperate by then. This helped a ton from the very first night. He went to bed fast without getting up 20 times. And it kept him asleep! I believed it allowed him to learn how to sleep thru the night. We used maybe half the tin and he has since weaned off it and he continues to sleep well. (this is 6 months later at the time of reviewing)

Magic!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 6, 2019Size: 0.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
I discovered badger products on a trip to the states 3 years ago and have been a lover of them ever since, but I just found this baby sleep balm last week and it has NOT disappointed!
I have a 15 month old who has always been a nightmare sleeper from the day she was born, and won’t self soothe in her cot meaning I have to nurse or rock her to sleep every night. I cannot bear to even attempt the cry it out method so I really just made my peace with the (hopefully) fairly short term sleep routine we have found ourselves in.. until a few weeks ago when she decided she would start fighting sleep at bedtime for anywhere up to 2,3 even 4 hours a night, making every evening a total nightmare that I was starting to dread all day.
I had no expectations for this product at all because my baby had pretty much defied every sleep aid imaginable since she was a few months old. But the first night I tried it I just massaged a little of the balm onto her wrists and the bottom of her feet, and nursed her as normal, and within maybe 10 minutes she was fast asleep and didn’t even stir when I put her in her cot (a small miracle for us).
I was pretty sure it was probably a fluke but the same happened the next night, and then the next and again with naps.
She still wakes a few times in the night as she is currently teething, but it’s a lot easier to deal with when I’ve not spent my entire evening having to get her to sleep in the first place.
I don’t write many reviews but this little pot of magic deserves a five star one and I felt I needed to pass the knowledge along to another knackered mum or dad reading reviews wondering whether or not to bother, just try it! At the very very least it’s a great, safe natural balm to use for massaging baby to get them to relax, and even if it doesn’t work for your baby it smells so gorgeous at least you’ll feel a little more relaxed yourself!

It really works!

I can count on one hand the amount of times my two year old has slept through the night. I actually bought this for her older brother, but she wanted some rubbing on her wrists too, so I gave it a try. That night, she slept through the night for the first time in almost a year. We wee over the moon, but unfortunately for me, it aggravates her eczema, so we stopped using it.
