I haven't had a chance to take this pack hunting, but it is a really great pack for dayhikes. I've strapped various items to it including water bottles, blankets and camping pads. I also use the small outer pouch to carry my conceal pistol and spare magazine. I transferred a standard CamelBak hydration resorvoire to it and it can take that, my pistol, binoculars and much more without issue. The open webbing pouches on either side are not designed to carry water bottles securely, so don't try. Lastly, none of the zippers provide a full open capability, which I prefer, but if you like to unzip and splay open your packs exposing everything internally, buy a different pack.

I have owned a lot of daypacks over the years, and use one every day during hunting season. The thing I have learned is that there are some packs which are intelligently designed (the right number, placement and size of pockets; the ability to extend or limit capacity; quiet and tough material) and which feel intuitive and therefore easy in use. I have several other Badlands packs, and I use them for different situations. A larger one (Diablo) to carry more stuff for longer hunts; smaller ones (HyperHydro, Reactor) for shorter hunts. They are all overbuilt and well-designed. However, if I had to have just one, this would be it. I think I could carry nearly as much as I can with the Diablo, or cinch it down to smaller size (it has compression straps) for smaller carries. I agree that one of the zippers is hard to get at, but that's a minor detail. This is one great little pack, and the price is great too, considering the usual cost of a Badlands pack-- they have not skimped on quality to reach this price point. My only question is--why no hip belt?

I had the smaller Badlands pack for a few years and it served me well, I needed more space so I bought this, I'm very happy with it, the only issues is there is a pocket that is hard to get to the zipper, and it fights you all the way, but otherwise it has a very good layout and is very useful!!

This is a very nice pack. However, the two zippers that have "rain flaps" over them are miserable to operate. They do not want to open or close very well. I will keep it and use it as it's a nice pack overall, but I curse it every time I have to get in those pockets.

Great pack, though make sure you get the hydration bladder for it, I choose to carry water bottle and water bottle pockets are a bit small of the big green Gatorade bottles. The waterproofing works well, though the zippers are a bit noisy. All in all, a good buy.

Nice looking pack but thats about it. The zipper system is TERRIBLE and forced me to buy a different pack less than a year. Sure I could have sent it back to them and they would have repaired it and sent it back. But it shouldn't come to that! You buy an expensive pack expexting quality.

Note: one of only a few negative reviews I've ever given.

Great quality day pack. Strong, comfortable, well thought out. Not really big enough for packing meat out but plenty big to carry all the essentials without feeling bulky and weighing you down. I like to be mobile and lightweight when I hunt since the terrain is usually pretty steep. If I expect to have to pack out game I just strap this pack to a larger pack frame and then have my bases covered. At the price point this pack is much higher quality than the others I had been eyeing.
