Twenty-five years ago Baffin Footwear began manufacturing insulated and non-insulated footwear products. While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. Baffin combines leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, which creates a hybrid style of high-performance footwear. This equates to more warmth, better fit, and superior comfort. Baffin boots are different than most shoes and work boots because the sole and midsole are molded to the base in one continuous process. The sole itself is a marvel of modern engineering because it is made up of several advanced thermo-set polymers that are combined together to achieve the right balance of warmth, protection, low weight and grip. Baffin is dedicated to offering boots with functionality and fashion, while still maintaining their legendary performance.

*UPDATE* They *were* perfect until about month and half of use rendered them useless. The seams split allowing slush/water/snow to seep in. Baffin was less than helpful. They didn’t want to do anything about these $200 boots busting out in less than 2 months because it exceeded Amazons return window. They finally and reluctantly agreed to send a replacement pair but “couldn’t” replace for many months because they were supposedly out of stock. We were suppose to receive a replacement in August, it’s the end of October and we still have not received a pair. I will never support this brand again and I will share this experience with anyone who asks for a boot recommendation!
I wore the boots to the store the day I got them. The very next morning I put them on, pulled the lace and sure enough... the third eyelet from the top on the outside of the right boot pulled right out of the punched hole in the leather. Just like that, smooth and easy with very little tension. I just started to laugh but at this price point it not very funny.
Amazon offered to replace them but I declined. I won't buy a Baffin product again. I expected so much more from a $200 pair of boots.
I tested the Sorrel Conquest, Baffin Monster and Thorogood Endeavor Extreme
First, I purchased a pair of Sorrel Conquests. After 20 times of wearing, the lace eyelet ripped out( left another 31 eyelets to break over time), my first pair of these split in the first month of wearing. What I went through to find answers as to why this continues to happen to a boot that has ONLY 47% of the people would recommend over 3 years can be summed up in STAY AWAY FROM SORREL's CONQUEST till it's redesigned. Sad that they sold to Columbia and moved manufacturing to Asia.
Thorogood makes a quality product, but these boots weren't as warm as the Baffins. I stood in the cold for 30 min at -10F and I could feel the temps in my toes after 20 min. They are also not as snug as the Sorrel or Baffin, still really well made, just came in 2nd and much better for snow conditions and snowmobile riding, snowshoeing than 85% of the boots out there.
Baffin Monster.....My wife thinks they are not the most stylish of the 3( I think the Sorrel wins there, though it's a crap boot). Seeing I need to snow shoe, hunt, work, and just live in these for 6 months, I choose the Baffin Monster. I went out for 6 hours in temps from -10 F in the AM to 15 F in the day. Everything on my body was cold and frozen other than my feet. They are that warm... The grip of the bottom of the boot over ice is unparalleled in anything I have used in the last 10 years.
I have owned the Baffin's for over 30 days and It's a work in progress, but as it stands, this is a heck of boot. Thank you Baffin for continuing to make a quality product, making that product in Canada( not Vietnam like Sorrel, which use to be made in Canada). I will report back if anything goes wrong with my boots, but right now typed words can't express how pleased/impressed I happen to be with them.

We must have looked at over two dozen women's and men's boots in this search and at the end of the day she settled on these Snow monsters. Here's why:
- These boots feature a -70C rating but despite being rated for such low temperatures they're not as heavy, stiff or even bulky as many other boots. Her big problem with warm men's boots was just how stiff and bulky many of them were. For example, these boots are actually more flexible than Baffin Crossfire boots that are "only" rated to -40C!
- These boots are well-made. Seemingly better than other Baffin boots even
- They have a good combination of being comfortable yet tight enough to walk long distances or use with snowshoes.
My wife tried both the black and brown colors of this boot. The brown pair looked a LOT more rustic than the black one. She went with the black as it's a good cross-over for wear in the city on really cold days and out for snow hikes. Brown pair would likely show any scuffs less and would make for a better work boot.
So far the boots have done great in mild weather (around 0C) remaining completely dry despite being worn for an hour in deep snow. They weren't too warm for these days, which is a great sign. My wife only tried these boots for a short period of time in temperatures below -20C so it's a bit too early to say how they'll do during prolonged exposure but they definitely inspire complete confidence (I'll update my review if there are any problems)
P.S. The only thing you need to know is that the snow gaiters at the top of the boot make it hard to tuck jeans or regular pants into the boot and they likely won't be wide enough to go over the boot either. This is not an issue if you're using snow pants with a base layer since your base layer easily goes into the boot and snow pants go over it .
I suggest that you order the same size as you usually wear. No quality control regarding the size of the liners. I ordered 2 pairs of Snow Monster. For the first pair, the seam of the left foot liner arrived under the toes, which was really annoying. I ordered an other pair of boots and liners. This time, the left foot liner was too big for the boot so a fold was formed below the foot, which was worst than the seam under the toes. Even tough I tried to replace the liner in the boot several times, the fold appeared under the foot when lacing the boot. By the way, the lacing system should be reviewed. Since I could'nt return the boots a second time, I decided to keep the first pair. Good service from Amazon.ca. Theses boots are light and keep my feet hot and dry. Overall,I'm happy with these boots.
They are extremely warm, when I do the fishing on the ice my feet are very warm, they also fell very snuggled and cradled like a baby in the mother arm, you know?
Would spend this much money once instead of buying many cheap boot because I am intelligence.
Very good on ice, good grips. Not too heavy as I am still able to do gym style dance on ice to keep body warm.
Not cheap, good investment if you have feet and like them warm in the cold.
I would rate boot 10/10, good boot and I am a size 13, good boot.
