On partnering with another writer: Smooth as silk. I definitely want to have coffee and bagels with both of them now.
On serious tips: If you need a kick in the pants to get you started, this book is for you. It takes the scary out, just like Visine takes the red out. If you are looking for a textbook or someone to hold you hand and pat you on the head, look elsewhere.
On caring about serious tips: Not so much. I was entertained by the anecdotes. I was inspired by the recommendations. I have written 5,000 words since reading it. Seriously. And that doesn't count this review.
If you are offended by modern sitcoms, don't read it. You'll be offended.
If you are offended by people having fun at the next table in the coffee shot at a volume louder than a whisper, don't read it. You'll be offended.
If you are offended by people who wear white before Easter, who mix stripes and prints, or who use paper plates for family meals, don't read it. You'll be offended.
If you enjoy life as it comes and don't mind shouting about it, read it.
If you can laugh at yourself and have friends who will do it for you if you don't, read it.
If you have thought for years that writing just might be fun if people didn't get all serious about it, read it.
Or if you just think the title sounds fun, read it. You won't be disappointed!
These two practical and hilarious ladies are the best writing friends you always wanted but never knew you needed. They are realistic about what it takes to write a book and encouraging that you can - and should - do it.
If you're looking for advice that is helpful but not daunting, look no further: this is the book for you!
This book demystifies the writing process. It breaks it down into simple steps that anyone can do. It is deceptively simple. Anyone can make things seem complicated. It takes genius to distill things to their essence and make them seem simple.
If you want the confidence you will need to write your first book, read this one!
