Perhaps it's in spite of all this that she becomes a single woman for one night. Okay...so she's not single but she acts as though she is. She throws caution to the wind, forgets her inhibitions, and somehow tosses any redeemable qualities out the window when she chooses to sleep with Casey Moore.
Casey's got a girlfriend.
Blake's got a boyfriend.
Somehow, they can't get enough of each other and hurt everyone in the wake of their.....whatever you want to call it. Blake isn't sure what she could call her relationship with Casey. She only knows it feels...right. It's more than comfortable. It's unexpected. It's everything she's missing out of her boyfriend Grant. Grant is charming and he's the all-around American guy. But Casey, Casey is on a whole other level that Blake never envisioned being a part of. So..she stays halfway on his level and halfway off...somehow seeing this as a perfect balance while continually confusing herself.
I did love this book. I hated the cheating. I kind of hated Blake. She was entirely too selfish. She hurt many people in her time of confusion...but I got it. I understood her somehow. Doesn't mean I like her actions any more. I don't. I do believe that some people are meant to be together but hell...they shouldn't fight it to the point of involving others in their down-whirl spiral of 'what the **** is going on' or 'what the **** do I feel?'
If I'm being completely honest...I have a love/hate relationship with this book. I love how it was written...I loved Casey and his mom and Blake's dad and her brother. I never thought I'd be sucked into a book where the prime setting dealt with cheating. It isn't just about the cheating. It's about the emotions that can be evoked if you chose to have a one-night stand. I don't believe in them..unless of course you're both single. As much as I love my fiance, if he was meant to be with someone else...I could see myself letting him go...because as this book preaches...sometimes you can't help the magnetic pull you have to someone. Nine times out of ten that magnetic pull is crap...but every now and again you get something genuine.
Anyway...I'm still stewing over my feelings regarding this book but I did like it and I'll read the next one because Casey is just an amazing person and I want to see what his happy ending might entail.
Like many other reviews state - I skimmed the last half of the book and the editing was atrocious.
This book has given me anxiety! From start to finish, I could not get enough. The author had me so engaged from page one.
Blake and Casey's story is raw. It is emotional. It is heart breaking. It is infuriating. It is love at it's best and worst.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - I won't lie, there were times I just wanted to punch Blake straight in the mouth, but then I would realize that her stupidity is what made this book all that much more addicting.....
Great job, M. Mabie! Great job..... but I'm waiting.....
