One of my friends likes both strawberries and white chocolate so I use this for making frosting for strawberry cakes or shortcakes. The frosting can be drizzled over a shortcake in lieu of whipped cream. I use 1 1/4 cups of confectioners sugar, 8 ounces of Baker's white chocolate, 1 stick (4 ounces) of unsalted butter, 3 tsp of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons of water, and cornstarch as needed to thicken the frosting (this takes a little practice). Heat the water, vanilla extract, and sugar in a small sauce pan over a low heat to form a sugar syrup. Add butter and slowly melt. Add white chocolate and slowly melt. Whisk to get an even mixture. Slowly add cornstarch about a tablespoon at a time, whisking to keep the mixture even. The hot frosting should be starting to peak up. It will have a buttery appearance. Pour the hot frosting over the cake and quickly spread, or drizzle it quickly over a shortcake. The frosting will harden after it cools and should not be sticky.

I am constantly on the lookout for "hydrogenated" (partially or otherwise) oils in my foods, and when I started making holiday candies for family last winter, finding baking chocolate was no different.

I searched cheap brands like Nestle (whom I have humanitarian rights issues with anyhow) to the nicer brands like Ghiradelli, as well as the large blocks of chocolate bark in grocers' shelves. Every single product except for this brand had hydrogenated oils, particularly in their white chocolate.

So in addition to the reviewer who takes consideration to peanut processing, I like that this is hydrogenation-free. It's the choice I make come the holidays.

Best of luck in whatever chocolate you choose!

When will the white chocolate be available ? I need it to make my Christmas Bark. It is the absolute best priced, best taste and easiest to work with.I heard that there was a factory contamination problem and supplies withdrawn. Wrote to Kraft and was sent a stupid list of local shops who of course dont have any !

Baker's has updated the design on their box, but it's the same product that I buy locally to melt into blocks. I then take a vegetable peeler to the blocks once they've cooled to make shavings/curls... the contrast of the white chocolate on top of a fudge frosted cake is lovely. Also, the white chocolate tastes very good, pleasantly sweet, most people think I've used Ghirardelli or something similar.

I love it, and will continue to buy it.

Nobody ever mentions this but this is so delicious to eat right out of the box. I remember as a kid trying this with the unsweetened dark chocolate blocks, a memory indelibly burned into my psyche, however this is different. This has sugar. I am a big fan of white chocolate and Baker's does it right with no hydrogenated oils etc.
