Soon, Discordia begins to crave Anup’s touch, finding it brings a thrill that chaos cannot provide. As the two continue their forbidden engagements, Discordia gradually comes to realize Anup believes she can be more than just destruction and a puppet to war. Even as someone who doesn't typically read erotica, Balance in Chaos was actually a fun and fascinating read. It may be outside of my genre, but I've always been a fan of Egyptian mythology, so a story that crosses between Greek and Egyptian myths definitely piqued my interest!

Discordia and Anup quickly grew on me, and it was hard not to root for them when everything seemed to be working against them. Discordia, as the goddess of chaos, definitely gives her foes a run for their money, and the tragedy that befalls her romance with Anup is heartbreaking. This is a kind of story about gods that I've never seen before.

Just don't go in expecting for a light-hearted fairytale! This book is dark and depressing, which makes it just my kind of story.

Discordia is the Greek goddess of chaos. During Greece’s invasion of Egypt, she’s set loose on the banks of the Nile to sew mayhem and reap chaos across the land. Anup is the god of the underworld and in charge of judging the souls who enter his domain. When war hit and caused a serious backlog of souls, he goes in search of the source of all this death. He finds Discordia and soon what was a lust for chaos, becomes a lust for each other. Their secret affair is forbidden and once they are discovered it sets in motion a tragedy for the ages.
This is my second read from this author and again I was amazed by the imaginative world she created. I absolutely adored the mix of both Greek and Egyptian mythology and the unexpected turns the plot took. The macabre was often set against the beauty of love and sex and it made for a wonderful erotic read. Themes of love, lust, war, revenge and consequences were all weaved together seamlessly in beautifully descriptive language.
This author and her books are truly unique works of fiction and this one was no different. It was fast paced and action packed with many twists but it never felt rushed and my connection to this epic tale and its characters was deep. Absolutely recommended.

Review:

I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was definitely interesting. This wasn't a long read, but it took a bit for me to get into it. Probably due to it being very different. As the story progress, the description of Anup (Anubis) that kept this jackal form during the entire story to the close of the end, threw me for a loop. I could tell that the author(S) did their research on Greek/Egypt mythology.

The plot of this book:

Full of surprises. So many twist and turns.

One word to describe the mood of the book:

Dark

The pace:

Fast

The characters:

Developed. Well Developed characters!

A fascinating mix of ancient mythology as gods are caught up in the shift from Egyptian dominance to the later Greek.
Discordia is a Greek goddess of Chaos, who comes to the notice of Anup the Egyptian god of the dead as the cause of so many Egyptians ending up before him to have their souls judged. Due to her sadistic brother Ares, Anup finds he needs to bring a new meaning to the phrase 'sexual healing'. Unfortunately I didn't find the sex scenes of this erotic story, erotic. Mainly because not only is Anup covered in fur, he has the head of a jackal. A muzzle didn't stop him kissing his Goddess though.
Their relationship is fruitful (make that VERY fruitful, and all without stretchmarks and 9 months of waiting, how cool is that?) but it seems that the gods probably had a point about needing to keep this couple apart.
Tragedy, torture, death, revenge and chaos reign, but no one said being a god or goddess was going to be easy.
Overall, an entertaining read, that would be improved by another proofread. I'd certainly read more by this author.

War has descended to Egypt. Alexander the Great has brought his Greeks to conquer the mystical lands. Chaos rains on the battlefield, and Anup (better known as Anubis) is overwhelmed by the number of souls flooding into his domain. Wanting to discover the source, he finds the Greek goddess Discordia spreading chaos and causing death.

What starts as a verbal argument turns sexuals as the sensual Discordia awakens unfelt desires in Anup. Discordia is changed by Anup, a love growing between them. But when the Egyptian god of chaos, Seth, discovers their affair, he exposes their illict congress to the Greek gods.

Zeus is not pleased, and tradgey follows.

Balance in Chaos is a story of love, redemption, grief, death, suffering, and hope all mixed together in the story of Discordia and Anup. This short novella took me on a whirlwind of emotions from the tenderness of Anup's healing to the final moments the story.

Lilith and Maria have penned a story that while dealing with gods and mythology (and quite cleverly the way the weave different tales) but yet feels so real.

This book is unlike anything else I've read, but I'm so glad that I read it. The writing style and voice are unique and it was refreshing to get sucked into this world of Grecian and Egyptian Gods. The imagery is brilliant.

It's so emotional though. You really get into the relationship between Anup and Discordia and I cried several times. The ending was beautiful in a very poetic way. When you read it, you'll know what I mean.

Overall it was a great read.
