Adrianna is a young gymnast whose goal is to make it to the Olympics. She eats, sleeps and breathes gymnastics. She moves 3 hours away from her home to get the best training that she can get. She is not a quitter and will do whatever it takes to get to the next level. No matter how much the pain may be she will fight and fight with everything she has. She is strong and determined and nothing will stand in her way, no matter what. Her coach is arrogant, and just a plain a hole at times. He works her hard and seems to pick on her constantly, pointing out the negatives, rather than the positives. Making her feel like she is not worthy of being there. But then there is the sexy side to him because let’s face it the man is gorgeous. But when it is just Kova and Ria there is another side to him, one that she cannot stop thinking about. The connection between the two of them is undeniable. But if she isn’t careful Kova will be her ruin. But she may very well be his as well.
This is a forbidden romance like I have never read before. I will not say any more about it but will say that Ms. Franco wrote this story in a way that it just felt so right. The intimate scenes between Kova and Ria were so raw and so intense that I did not care how forbidden their romance was. I felt every bit of their connection and passion. The passion and intensity that you felt when they were together just made it all feel so perfect and just so dam right. You felt their connection, and you experienced it all with them.
It wasn’t just their passion in the bedroom though. No, these two had a connection that was fierce, from the stares across the gym floor to the heated arguments between them. Everything about the two of them was so intense that at times I didn’t know if I wanted to hug them or slap them.
Kova completely tested me on so many levels. That man can make your head spin and give you whiplash like no other. There were moments when I myself wanted to jump on him and kiss him but then there were the moments where he became that a-hole again and I wanted nothing more than to throat punch him. He is such a confusing man but in the end I completely fell for him. His passion and his drive was so god dam sexy that I could not help but love the man. But I still wondered what was really going on in his head. I still needed to know so much more about this man who drove me crazy.
Adrianna is a tough girl who knows what she wants and goes for it. I have to say at times I wanted to scream at her for pushing too hard but at the same time applaud her for actions. I felt everything with her. Her pain and hurt was my pain and hurt. And it wasn’t just about her and Kova. It was about the intense training that ripped her apart day in and day out, both emotionally and physically.
Ms. Franco did an outstanding job with this book. She completely blew me away. For one the knowledge and understanding of the sport itself and the intense training that goes with it was written so perfectly. It truly gave you and understanding as to what gymnasts go through. The writing was flawless. And yes this book was a little on the long side but not once did this book drag on. As a matter of fact I could not and did not want to put this book down. From the moment I entered into the world of Kova and Ria I could not let go. This book was filled with passion and the fact that Ms. Franco can take a situation that is so wrong and make it feel so right just shows what an amazing writer she it. This is by far on of the best books I have read this year. An now I will patiently wait for the next book. Ok maybe not so patiently because I really need the next book Now!!
Well, that was surprisingly good.
I like my romance novels to have one or two sex scenes. More than that, and I skim them. I think I read like only %30 of Fifty Shades of Grey for that very reason. Now, in this book, there are quite a few hot and heavy scenes and I read them all. They were also very long and drawn-out and I read them like I was fourteen years old or something. Somehow the tension was kept throughout the entire book and I had to read every word.
So, that being said. This was hot, but definitely not for everyone for many different reasons.
1. The hero (if I can even call him that) has a girlfriend throughout the entire book. He even talks about her when the heroine and him are having sexual relations.
2. The heroine is fifteen in the beginning of this book and does have some sexual content with the hero who is 32 years old. She is sixteen throughout the majority and when they have sex.
3. The hero is the heroine's coach. Therefore, kind of like a teacher in the regard that he holds a position of power over her and boy does he abuse it.
4. The hero is straight up mean. And the word 'hero' is a ridiculous word to call him. He accuses the heroine of 'seducing' him. So there's that one. He does something horrific at the end of this novel that I was almost turned off by, but the way the heroine dealt with it changed my feelings.
Kova somehow toed the line of being a complete almost irredeemable jerk the entire book. But he never crossed it. The ending had me apprehensive but the way Adrianna handled it was pretty awesome. And he deserved it.
Kova is tenacious and sometimes cruel. Adrianna is determined and young, mostly with all those fun hormones. Her character was very believable to me. And while Kova's character was dominating and overbearing sometimes, she was a strong heroine and handled it well. If Adrianna happened to be a weak character this would have never worked, not paired up with a Russian jerkface.
While a lot of the gymnastics stuff went over my head- and there was a lot of it- I was kept entertained throughout. The plot moved a little slower than I would have preferred and was a little long in my eyes, but I was still really engrossed in this story.
Mainly because I love authors who take the leap into the bold. And this was very bold- from the characters' ages to the forbidden relationship to the jerkhead of a hero who has a gf throughout this entire book.
Nothing was going to work out easy for these characters and I just had to find out how are they going to overcome this??
The age gap.
Kova's girlfriend of five years.
Kova being a friend of Adrianna's dad
There was so much conflict that kept me entertained as a reader. And not to mention the steam was like stepping into a sauna.
I would recommend to those who don't mind cheating, like sport's romance, and those who like the forbidden and the bold.
If you are not a fan of forbidden books, do not read this!
This is a story about a young girl, Adrianna, who will do anything to make her gymnastic goals come true. She will live in another city three hours away from her family all alone. She comes from money so money is no problem. She will be working fifty hours a week to be able to meet her goal of moving up the ladder in gymnastics to elite status. Her end goal it the Olympics.
Kova, her Coach, is a previous winner of the Olympics and runs a tight fit ship with his gymnasts. His rules are the only rules. He is an jerk to the max, but he is dang good at what he does. Although, in a relationship, he can't seem to stay away from Ria.
<I> <b>"Think what you want, but no matter what I do and say, I find myself drawn to you explicitly. Like a moth to a flame. It's true, think about it. I am the moth, you are the flame. It is an irresistible attraction that will end in total destruction." -Kova </b> </I>
Hayden is another character that we meet who is the biggest sweetheart! He becomes a good friend to Adrianna and helps her by being there for her and also healing her physical wounds. Kova may not see it that way, but who else does she have when she's three hours from her family. (I might have a secret crush on him!)
I highly recommend, but heed the warning.
Now I'll just be over here twiddling my thumbs until the next book is out.
