These jars are about 3" high and maybe 2-1/4" diameter. I filled them with yellow and blue jelly beans and a tiny dinosaur, then tied with brightly colored ribbon as a party favor for a baby shower. These were very well received by our guests. The jars are good quality, and the lids would seal if properly processed in a boiling water bath (which I didn't do). The outside is a textured, but clear, finish. They look like they'd be perfect for canning a small amount of something, say, jam for gift giving.

Ball jars are always great! These are glass with a nice design, about 3"x3"x3X alltogether. Come with seal caps and lids. They do rust if left to air dry, so they must be dried after washing. Sharpie does not hold on lids and wipes right off. These are great for reuse and can be used for a number of different activities. I have switched to buying mine from Walmart, since they are cheaper in store.

Breast Milk Storage

In an attempt to expose my baby to as limited amount of plastic as possible, I started brainstorming freezer safe options for breast milk storage. These eliminate the waste of those plastic milk storage bags. I fill up these mason jars in 2.5, 3, and 3.5 oz increments. I haven't filled them to the top since milk expands when frozen. One jar is usually enough of a meal for my 3 month old son. Thawing is easy. I can take a jar from the freezer, place it in a bowl of warm water, and it's thawed in minutes. I use the box the jars came in to carve out my storage space in the freezer.

While at work, I pump about 18oz between three sessions. When I get home, I fill up 5 jars with 3.5oz each and place them in the freezer. I remove 6 jars from my freezer stash and send them with my son to the sitter everyday.

I purchased the 24 pack of 4oz jars. I also purchased the bpa-free Ball jar storage lids.
