Love it, they arrived yesterday and I immediately began juicing and storing them. They key is to fill it to the very top and then that will help keep the air out. I also add lemon to help keep the nutrients in.. Those of you on a juice fast this is excellent.

I am 49 and have canned for as long as I can remember--back to the time I was first able to stand at the stove on a little stool next to my parents. I have canned through tough times and prosperous ones, and in all walks of life. And I give these jars one star...and will never buy them again. (Goodwill and Craigslist are my sources, sorry seller.)

How sad that one corporation now owns all the smaller canning jar companies, and has reduced their quality so terribly. The glass is thinner than ever, the lids come jammed onto the jars--with a higher rate of failure and less reusability--and the jars come in a flimsy carton, not at all suitable for storing and protecting foodstuffs from bumps, dirt, and spider poo. These jars have always been a durable product. Till now.

I hope for the day when someone in China or Poland or Mexico or SOMEWHERE markets a competing brand to Jarden's canning jars, which used to be produced under the high-quality, reliable Ball, Mason, Kerr, and Atlas brands. And now, even the slightly flimsier but serviceable Golden Harvest brand. Just another way that the corporate view (that gentrification means money, and that people of modest means shouldn't be able to make their own food security) is taking everything over.

This is a great priced set of a dozen pint-sized Mason Jars. These jars are super versatile, perfect for DIYs and various uses. As containers, I wouldn't suggest using these to store daily use items than require the top to be opened access. The jars have a dual lid like most Mason Jars with one screw on top and a circular disk that's held in place by the screw-on top. This makes it a little hard to open and close on a daily basis, I have found it more useful to use these with just the screw-on top which I use as decoration as you can see in my pictures.

They make great and customizable toothbrush holders as well as paint brush holders. I've even used these to storing both salt and soap, anything you can attach a pump/opening to and use without taking off the top. I've also used them as place settings filled with flowers, candle holders, cute drink glasses & as a simple succulent planter. Seriously, once you start DIYing with mason jars, it's hard to stop! Check out more Mason Jar DIYs here http://www.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/g1821/mason-jars/ to get the inspiration juices flowing.

I love these jars for quality, quantity and price. They are a great size, and all arrived in perfect condition. I'll definitely be ordering them again.

Bell is well known for this type of jar. The quality is always good. You can buy them every where in all sizes. I like buying them on Amazon just so I didn't have to lug them home. They arrived in perfect shape. I like this size for filling with cookies for gift for people like the mail person, our realtor, or anyone else I'd like to give a small thank you to. If you like to give out dry cookie mixes as a gift, It is hard to find cookie mix recipes for this size jar. That was what I was goimg to do, but reslized they were smaller then the ones most people give out and write recipes for. So I baked and filled them with cookies. They are a good size for a manicure kit, or something like that. I'm sure they are great for giving away jellies and jams in, very generous for that. I just don't can or make jelly. They'd be great to fill with a hand scrub and give away along other with other like items as a gift. I also use them to fill with cut veggies and salad green. I make salads on Monday for lunches and they are good all week stored as 35 degrees in the fridge. So very useful.

I've fallen in love with the bulk bins at Whole Foods, but I got tired of having a pantry full of brown paper baggies containing ingredients identified only by 4-digit codes (more than one product of which I forgot what it was and had to try to remember to look it up at the store). I wanted canisters to keep all these items in, but canisters are expensive. So I figured I would give these a try instead.

These are perfect for my needs. I can open and close them easily, and the fact that they're clear means I can see exactly how much of a product is left and whether or not I need to buy more. They're small enough to stack two rows deep in my pantry (I have a tiny pantry) so they don't take up a lot of room. And using them has definitely made my pantry more organized. (I seriously used to have like 4 different bags of almonds and 3 bags of dried cranberries, etc. It was ridiculous.)

There's not an obvious place for a label on these; I just stuck some plain, white address labels to the sides (I had both farro and hard red wheat berries, for example, which look quite similar).

I love that I can now see how much of an item I have and that I can store items at room temperature in sealed containers (no worries about bugs).

3 of the jars showed up completely shattered. I had to fish the remaining jars out of broken glass.
