Ball Canning Jars & Lids
It's easy to show your creation in its best possible light.
When it comes to canning, there's nothing more important than a quality seal. It ensures that no oxygen gets into the canning jar after processing and that your food will remain preserved just the way you created it.
Ball Brands of Fresh Preserving Canning Lids have been crafted for quality in the U.S. for more than 125 years. Ball Jar's manufacturing facility in Muncie, Indiana, produces each lid with a custom, time-tested sealing compound with an underside coating so that the natural acids in your food will not react with the lid.
You can trust that each jar is every bit as genuine as the creation inside it.

My family members have given them back to me after finishing their jam and I have used it to store after school snacks in it for my son. I usually have some veggies or fruit that I cut up, in it ready for him when he gets hungry.
Update: 2/11/2016 Since I received 98% of the jars back since the holidays, I have continued to use them for snacks for my son. However, I wanted to share that we recently used a jar that lost a lid, in a craft project. Which in reality isn't that big of a deal, since you can find lids very easily to go on them. However, we were looking at a magazine we found and seen they made a bunny basket out of rope.
We do not have any rope, but we do have some twine on hand. My 6 year old son and I together made a bunny or mouse (depends on who you ask) a little holder for his buttons can have a special place. I included the pictures of our craft project, in hopes that helps you.
So I just wanted to mention in an updated post that these jars are perfect sizes for making jams as gifts or using them to store fruit and veggies in the fridge for after school, but I believe my son's favorite use of these jars is using them in craft projects. He is already thinking of some other ideas to use them for, like to plant flowers in them for his teacher, and to create other storage for his other small craft pieces.

The other six I use in the freezer. These freeze well. I’ve tried other glass jars and some have cracked. These are thick, and because they come straight up (that is the mouth is the same opening as the rest) they are safer for freezing. We are a family of two, so often 8 ounce jars of sauce or gravy go bad in the fridge before we are able to use the other half. With these we open a traditional 8 ounce jar, use half and freeze the other 4 ounces in these. I do NOT fill these right up to the rim, so there is some room for expansion when freezing. When we are ready to use the other half just defrost overnight in the fridge, or pop in the microwave (tops off, of course) because these are glass I don’t worry about plastic leaching into the food.
Very pleased with these. They are easily stackable and don’t take up much space. These arrived well packed and none were broken. I think a dozen suits our needs but I would not hesitate to buy these again if I discovered another use for them.
11-22-19 - Update - I have now used them in several different projects and can now say that they are worth every penny. I wouldn't change a thing about either of my purchases of them. You Do want these.

These jars stack easily, but no more than two. The glass is beautiful and allows you to see what is inside. These were typically called 'jam jars'- but I can see so many other uses with them.
When I buy my spices I buy them in 2 or 4 ounce bags. These bags come with labels that have pertinent information on them. What I did was cut around the spice label I needed, insert that into the jar, fill the jar with the spice, then put a 'ball' label specifically made for these 4 ounce jars- It was a lot of work, but my goodness no more playing 'try to find the spice'... Everything is in order, and the spices will keep longer.
It was one of my New Years resolutions- and I am ¾ of the way done! I need another 24 jars and I will be onto the next organization job.

They are slender in size so more can fit within a given width. Taller therefore not as stackable and stable as wider options especially in the refrigerator. The glass appear sturdy - longevity is unknown as I have only just received and started using them.
The cover is feeble and inferior. I made some Greek yoghurt and thought the covers created a good moisture seal for transport. Packed the sealed containers in a thermal bag with ice. On reaching my destination - I had yogurt juice. The ice melted and water seeped in. I do not can, but somehow I think if these were purchased for canning for a good seal - someone would be disappointed.
I have decided to search for 1-piece covers to see if these can be salvageable, use them as spice containers in my kitchen. I do not trust them to act as a moisture barrier - only an elaborate container.
They do not satisfy the reason for my purchase.
