UPDATE: I've had this set for almost a year now, using them about 3 times a month and they are still going strong with no issues. They've been invaluable for my canning journeys!
If I were designing a tool set for canning and pickling I would rethink the jar grabber.
I would prefer a set of log tongs with non-slippery rubber to allow me to reach deep into my water bath with a tool that will grip a wet jar.
The magnetic lid lifter could be a bit longer so you don't wind up burning your fingers trying to lift the lids out of the pot of hot water, but I just used the tongs to hold it while grabbing the lids if the water is a bit deeper than normal. The lids aren't heavy so it's no big deal.
The tongs grab the hot jars up and out of the pots very easily, and the funnel makes filling the jars so simple. Works great, have even used the funnel to fill thermoses up with hot soup.
The bubble remover/headspace measuring tool also does what it is supposed to do. I haven't had any problems with this kit. The only thing that is looking shabby is the box they came in that I still store all the pieces in when not in use. I've never used any of the other canning kits so I can't compare the quality and usefulness of this kit with another. I just know that I have had this kit for years, everything that I received is still in great shape, and for me this works perfect.
The set arrived ahead of schedule, and as with all Ball products, the quality is exceptional. The lifter grips evenly, lifts evenly, and has a nice thick protective coating that will last for years--at least my last one did. The Funnel and other tools are also a thicker and more durable plastic than you find in the oddball brands at dollar stores. Of course, within a week of getting this, all my old utensils turned up out of nowhere--Murphy's Law of Kitchen Appliances never fails. But it has turned out to be really convenient having a double set, as we are canning more than usual this year--so now we can run the pressure canner and the water bath, and not be going nuts when everything is done processing at once.
There are two things you should never skimp on--kitchen tools and shoes. That's why I always go with Ball for my canning supplies.

Good value, though I prefer Ball's upgraded "Secure-Grip Jar Lifter" and only use the other accessories. Read morePublished 3 days ago by Christine A Berger

All the parts included are essential for canning. The technology is great. But it is not durable. Feels like worse than disposable utensils. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Cyriac Kadavil
