The ball jars are great - you can store a variety of food product in them on the counter, in the fridge and in the freezer (be sure to leave enough room for expansion when freezing liquid!). I give the jars 5 stars.
BUT, I can only give Amazon 1 star for these jars. Why the high price? I ordered them in haste from my go-to website Amazon, not thinking to check around for a better deal. Just hours later, I found the exact same 12-pack of jars for 1/3 the price. I immediately tried to cancel the order, but it was too late. Amazon wants me to pay way to much in shipping to return the jars. I did a little extra research and found these for half price with free shipping at other websites. I'm pretty disappointed that Amazon doesn't have competitive pricing on these. And since my purchase, the price has gone up!

I live in a 100 year old house which means mice in the winter. I store almost everything in these jars and I mean everything! Rice, pasta, oatmeal, beans, granola bars- anything that would be attractive to my winter invaders. These are also great for dried herbs, tea, coffee you name it. BUT.. holy cow Amazon is twice the price of my local Ace Hardware and they aren't cheap. At 10.99 vs 32.99, it is a no brainer to stop at Ace. Sorry Amazon but a $22 markup is too much. Update: Walmart has them as well for the same price as Ace.

I purchased these 32-ounce widemouth quart jars with caps and lids online without the benefit of shopping locally. I paid $31.00 for a dozen of these online through Amazon which is very convenient. I later went shopping at Walmart and found them for $10.98. Exact Ball jars, with lids and caps, a dozen, and the same wide mouth quart jars. A bit higher to say the least. I have to say that sometimes for me it is very convenient to buy online and most prices are very good. Every once in awhile though a few things pop up very expensive in comparison to the local stores. In this case, I should have paid attention and shopped locally first.

These jars are great. I use them for storage in my pantry since they are too large for my canner. I just picked them up at my local True Value hardware store for less than half the price. Ace hardware also carries them. Burn a little gas and get two sets for the price of the one here and still have some change. I love Amazon but this time they have dropped the ball.

I bought these jars specifically because the information provided on Amazon's site said they are "freezer safe." However, the jars that were shipped to me were not freezer safe. I put one in the freezer (partially filled) and the jar cracked. I'm not sure if amazon shipped the wrong item or the jars really are not freezer safe. I was very disappointed in my purchase!

I'm not the least bit interested in canning; my jars are being used to make a week's worth of salad that stays crisp and fresh while made ahead of time. I'm sure you have heard of Mason Jar Salads. If you haven't, check out Pinterest or Google "Mason Jar Salad". No complaints about the price like others here--less than $11 when I bought them; I was unable to find the wide-mouth style locally. The regular-size mouth wouldn't do for making salads as you wouldn't be able to fit your hand inside the opening. By all means get the quart size; the smaller pints aren't large enough to hold much.

Great price, cheaper than walmart and solid jars. We bought these jars for our wedding as cups, but also use them at home. I love how solid they are. I can drink cold or hot drinks and don't have to worry about breaking them. They are also useful for pickling or just storing food, because they seal. They are a drink container and a storage container 2 in 1. Also these wide mouth mason jars are way better, because they are easy to clean. I can just stick the whole sponge in and wipe them out. The other types are a bit harder to clean. The only gripe I have is the lids are made from some cheap metal and will rust if not dried really well.

I ordered a set of these and they came delivered intact and all 12 were in the carton, along w lids.

I gifted these to a friend who uses them as food storage for home made soups. He makes soup up for the week, and portions it out in these jars. It keeps better than in plastic. The glass in the jars is thicker and smoother than the glass from commercial pasta jars, etc. I use them for canning peaches, pears and apple sauce. A quart size is the most practical size. It's not hard to can peaches and they taste better than commercially canned. I pack mine in the mango juice you find in the Spanish section of the grocery--it has sugar and acid and works better in my opinion than homemade syrup. I pour it around the peeled peaches, then do a regular hot-pack method canning (boiling water covering the capped jars in the canner and boil for the specified time.) A bit of ascorbic acid in the canning juice keeps the peaches from browning. I also use this method for pears.
