The JEDEC is set up so that it will be easy to use even without setting the XMP profile. (18/16/16/39 @ 1200mhz, 20/16/16/39 @ 1200mhz, 16/16/16/39 @ 1200mhz) Obviously the advertised timings are pretty bad compared to other ddr4 kits at this time, as this one probably has the worst timings (by about 1-2 ms). However, the modules can run much faster than this with 100% stability, while the other "faster" modules can not. I run this memory (32 gb kit) very stable at 12/12/12/30 1t @ 2666 mhz! using only 1.35v. This represents quite a large performance gain over the suggested settings.
For the price, this memory performs better than all other kits.
On these newer MOBO's, you get a latch on top but not one on the bottom, so you have to push the RAM to its breaking point before it'll fully seat! I went a month without a computer because I thought the RAM was but, but it was simply my intelligence that was bad.
The RAM works flawlessly and is super fast. If you're running high intensity programs, you need 16gb over 8gb. I found myself running out of RAM while running PS and PR with LR and some Chrome tabs and that was on 8gb of RAM. I just read online that you really don't need the faster ram (Such as other brands that offer 4000Mhz) because it will mostly perform the same. I find this kit well priced and very fast. No issues whatsoever and that's a bit of a surprise considering how new it is.
The fun part about this was that I went to a local higher end store (Worst Buy) and they didn't even carry a replacement because "that stuff is too new to carry in stock". It's like a badge of honor to be running a DDR4 ssytem
As far as use, I would say I got less out of these than any other memory purchased previously. That's a shame but there wasn't a lot of options at the time. Total purchase price was $2,696. The most expensive build I've done outside of servers so disappointing that it barely lasted 2 years. Hopefully a different set of DDR4 will last longer. I justify getting a different workstation. It's insanely fast and I'm unaware of a game it can't handle.
was going to have 4 x4 = 16 and 8x2 = 16 = 32.. instead, with a second pair of 8x2, I have 4x8 and 32 gigs.. anyone need a set of 4x4.. works great.. passes all tests... cheap...
