There is no excuse for the unprofessional presentation of this book. It was just sad to read such a poorly written and edited book (if there were an editor - which I doubt, but even if there weren't, as other reviewers have noted, the author's inability to use proper grammar and punctuation is epic). The lack of quality control is very distracting and made me question the contents of the book as well.

The story appears to have been written by the younger daughter in the family, whose age is given as four years old when the events described occurred in their Baltimore row house, using the first person voice of her mother (except where she apparently forgets to do this, and lapses into using the third person). So this is hardly a genuine first person account, and since the "Based on a True Story" part of the book title is not elaborated upon, we don't know how much of the story actually happened the way we're meant to believe it did.

I couldn't even finish the book because it was very painful. I have never in my life seen so many grammatical errors in a book. I found this so distracting that I couldn't enjoy reading any further. The author doesn't have the slightest idea on where to put the commas and this is unforgivable. I don't think she even graduated from elementary school. I don't believe the book was edited at all, and if so, shame on the "editor". Also, I'm an animal lover and what they did to their dog, is despicable.

It was a good story but it was so poorly written that I found myself editing the book instead of enjoying it. I had seen where other readers didn't think it was a problem, but this book goes way beyond a few grammatical errors. Another problem that I had, was that throughout the book, the author kept speaking of her mother's words concerning "the answer" as to why this haunting was happening, coming from her son, yet she never reveals what it was - the family just moves out one day and it's over! Very disappointed!!

What a major disappointment - the publisher, Eloquent Books, clearly did not do their best work. It was a waste of money. I feel like I cannot blame the writer entirely, since she should be able to rely on the editor to proof her work. This should have never gone to print as is. There were SO many grammatical errors that it truly was distracting. Additionally, the book flip flopped between first and third person narration throughout the enitre book. I read A LOT of non-fiction books on hauntings and this ranks as one of the poorest. If you truly want to read it, make sure you buy a used one or see if your library has it.

Since I live in Baltimore, I knew I had to purchase this book. I love keeping up with all of Maryland's hauntings. I love supporting local authors when they have great stories to tell. This book was purchased for my book club ranging from 11yrs-70yrs of age. All positive feedback and no one was discouraged about grammar or punctuation. I must say while reading this book, it did give me goosebumps and I was looking over my shoulders for days!

To be honest, I haven't finished reading this book yet but I can tell you that I am glad that I borrowed it from the library instead. I grew up in the same neighborhood and have never heard anything about this story until this book. That's amazing to me! But the main reason that I find this book painful to read is because of the terrible spelling, misuse of words and the overall way that it's written. I constantly find myself having to re-read sections just to make sure that I can understand it. Another reviewer made mention of this and I agree. How did this EVER get past publishers, proof-readers, editors, etc.? I now find myself skimming through pages just to get to an interesting part. But I've never read a book that was so poorly written.....and I read alot!
