This follow-up `toon was selectively released to unsuspecting theaters in places like Brazil, Australia, and Italy (while we were spared that indignity, getting it as a direct to DVD release instead).
First, the artwork isn't even remotely on the same level as the original. Second, the few songs peppered throughout were neither enchanting nor memorable (I forgot them as they were being sung). Thirdly, the sensibilities over utilized throughout this new story are streamlined to fit today's humor and have little to no bearing on the first film (making it jarring to watch these films back to back). The attempts to jazz up the storyline are painfully ridiculous. Adding a bully (Ronno), a persnickety porcupine, and a daffy groundhog didn't help matters. The story was over plotted with expected elements (the dad trying to ditch his son, et cetera).
There was very little about this "addition" that I found likable. They should have left well enough alone but when there's a possibility of milking sentiment for bucks...............
I didn't hate it, but I also won't be watching it again anytime soon.
I'm sorry I opened the package and can't return it.
