About the Author

Lisa Loomis writes because she loves to. Her stories are about the human condition: love, life, and everything in between (including sex, drugs, alcohol, and things just crazy enough to be true). Her stories are not predictable, conventional, or lacking in the messiness of life. She tries to extract the real emotion in any given situation in her characters, with a touch of humor. Lisa Loomis was born in Oakland California and raised in San Jose until she was a sophomore in high school. Her father then took a job in the San Diego area where he moved the family to Escondido, California (or Hickville as she called it). She finished high school at San Pasqual High then went to junior college at Palomar JC, ultimately graduating from San Diego State University with a BS in Finance. Finding more BS than Finance with the financial meltdown in 2008 she went back to her passion of writing. See all her books on Amazon, Nook, and most on Smashwords. She now lives and writes in Park City, Utah. Visit her at www.LisaLoomisBooks.com or www.MyForeclosureStory.com

I loved this, but I also hated this book. I was an emotional wreck after reading this book. To be honest I love books where I am crying, laughing, angry and everything else that comes from reading a book like this. BUT, the reason I love this kind of book is because in the end I will have my HEA. This author dragged me to the edge of a cliff and then THREW ME OVER THE CLIFF!!! She was suppose to STOP at the edge and then pull me back and give me my HEA, right???? That being said, this is one of the best books I have ever read. I just really need my HEA...

6. It made my heart hurt.
7. I want an alternate ending...

I can't remember the last book that I read that worked up so many emotions. I don't even know how to describe the book hangover I'm left with right now. I think I will still cry if I think about it... and I finished reading it last night. Absolutely worth it to read it!

I've been looking for not only a good read, but for a good author. I found both in Lisa Loomis.

Boy In a Band captured my attention for the entirety of the time it took me to read it. I could not put it down, and when I did, I found myself planning time around getting back to it. I am an 18 year old male just finishing my freshman year of college, and I LOVED IT. It is not to "lovey-dovey" but instead emphasizes how life throws you curve balls, and doesn't care if you can hit them or not. This said, I recommend this to to anyone from found adult to elderly women in rocking chairs- this book will not disappoint. Within it's pages one will find countless things they can relate to their own youth.

I can't wait to read Lisa's other books... an author everyone should check out.

I don't normally write reviews on books but this book definitely deserves one. This book takes place way before my time. I got to experience through the characters what happened in the 70's. Lots of drugs, lots of sex, and lots of rock n' roll. Michael and Morgan took me on a very emotional ride. I felt all the things that Morgan was feeling. After I finished the book I could not stop crying. I loved this book.

I am not a romance reader but on occasion I do pick one up and see where it is going to take me. I have read some really good ones and I have read some that are not so great. This one is middle of the road for me. And I really love reading new authors but I am currently on the fence with this one. There are aspects of the book I like but unfortunately since I don’t write spoilers I will just say the ending had its highlights. I do think this could have been shorter. There is a cycle of events that I am sure could have been summed up a lot quicker and by that I mean once or twice is okay more than that gets too repetitive for me and makes me remember how I am not fond of silly teenage choices or for the most part romance stories. I won’t say that this book is horrible because if it is the genre you tend to read it is something that may actually be something you enjoy. There are some things to like about the characters and some things to hate about them which usually makes for a good story and writing. The authors writing is not bad either but as I said this could have been shorter. Overall it was an okay book, I am not over the moon with it and I am not really sure how there is going to be a sequel since it says this is book 1. Maybe there is an idea there that I have missed that would open this to another one in the series. Even with not being overly thrilled with this book I would give the author a second read.

I loved this book and yes, it made me cry. A love story that starts early and lasts for decades, with so many ups and downs and mistakes being made that it makes you dizzy. Girl meets boy who's a singer in a rock band. Their families are friends and they get together, not entirely because they choose to, and if nothing else, have an interesting friendship going on. I could perfectly relate to Morgan at times, I wanted her to choose differently at other times, and always rooted for her to get Matthew at some point. Matthew is the kind of bad boy that you can't help like. You just want to shake him until he changes his ways and stops breaking Morgan's heart.

I also discovered songs I fell in love with while reading it and I am so happy about that.

This 1970's era set in San Jose, California will center around two individuals-Matthew and Morgan-that first met at age 12 and would never lose touch 30+ years later. Matthew, a strikingly good looking blonde rock star would sweep Morgan off her feet. His intense intimate charm would make her return over and over despite the bad treatment and casual regard he gives her. I refer to this as a "soul tie" that refused to be severed. With the passage of time, as more memories collected and the dynamics between the two of them changed in season, where life would normally move on, events would seem to draw them close again.

Author Lisa Loomis knows skillfully how to draw the reader in, painting an intense emotional feel to her characters. Matthews drugs and alcohol may be repulsive at first but as this character matures his connection with Morgan will exchange to "needy". Discover if this relationship lasts and the ingredients that seem to unite it. With a twist of events and surprise ending, it will compel you chapter after chapter. Boy in a Band is her first book in this series.

With a BS in Finance, Lisa has diverted and capitalized on her love of writing since 2008. A mix of works to her merit includes a variety of subjects. She currently resides in Park City, Utah.
