Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This is a stand alone book. It was written in order to help introduce new readers to the Eagle Elite series... ;) Yes there will be some spoilers if you read this book first but my hope is that if you don't have time to read the others, this one will give you a taste of the mafia and help you catch up! Ax and Amy's story is really close to my heart,  I'm so excited to bring you this book! The reading order if you choose to go back to the beginning after reading this one is:
Elite
Elect
Entice
Elicit
Ember
Elude
Hugs!

I think if I belonged to one of the mafia families, I would make Rachel just write books about this crew of characters. I love them all. They make me laugh. They make me swoon. Even when their behavior makes me cringe - I still want more.

Bang Bang is a short and sweet novella that helps ease the ache of wanting more from the Eagle Elite series. It's the story of Axton Abandonato and Amy De Lange - two people who have run away from the harsh reality of their families. But they now both need to come home to settle and face their pasts.

Even though it's only a brief glimpse into their lives, Ax and Ames story is an enjoyable and a satisfying read. It was fun to have a different perspective of the group - fresh eyes meeting them all. It was like meeting Nixon, Trace, Chase, Mil, Tex and Mo again for the first time and it made me want to re-read all of the previous books.

I would definitely recommend this series and Bang Bang but I would not start with it. Here is the series order - Get them all!

To say I love this series would be an understatement; it is more like an obsession. It is as if I know these characters personally, so I was a little nervous when Rachel announced she was going to introduce a new couple into the series. I should have learned a long time ago to never doubt Rachel Van Dyken, like always she delivers a hit! Bang Bang ends directly after Elicit and features Ax and Amy. Ax is a cousin to Nixon and brother to Sergio and has not been in any of the previous books.

There is nonstop action from the first chapter, as is always the case with the series. Someone’s life is always in danger and alliances are always shifting. The dual POVs are perfect because these two complex characters often hide their true emotions from others. Although they are not overly involved, it was nice to see other family members. You can not have EE without all the banter and snarkiness of Nixon, Chase, and Tex. My only complaint is I wish the book were longer. I wanted to read more of Ax and Amy’s full story. However, sadly it was only meant to be a novella.

While it can be read as a Standalone book, I recommend that you start from the beginning with Elite. This series is phenomenal and you are missing out if have not read it! If you just have to start here, you will get the entire back story and will love Ax.

Rachel is one of my go to authors. If she writes it, I read it. Period. The Eagle Elite series is one of my favorite series' ever. Bang Bang is an amazing addition to the series. It can be read as a standalone, but if you haven't read the other books in the series you will after you meet Tex, Nixon, Chase and Phoenix. But this is Axton's story. Amy and Ax are best friends until one night when she believes Ax is killed and she's sent into the foster care system. She finally escapes and gets away only to come face to face with Ax years down the road. He's been pulled back into the family and his mission is to get Amy. He has always wanted her, now he just has to convince her to go back to Chicago and back to his family. Their chemistry is off the charts. Ax is hot, sexy, funny and sweet. Can Amy resist him even though her entire being is screaming for Ax? Will Ax convince Amy that he has always loved her? That he wants things to be different? Or with The Family intervene and have something else in mind for them. Do not miss this one!

"Nah." He swallowed, looking away. "Just enjoying the who."
"Show?"
"Eat something else."
I frowned. "You're weird."
"More toast?" He offered. "Jam?"

"Another girl!"
"Yay," Sergio said dryly. "Let's throw a party."
Bee glared in his direction then stuck out her tongue, "Ignore him," she said turning back to Amy.
"He's just grumpy because no one will sleep with him."

Cursing, I pulled open the bedroom door just as Phoenix lifted his hand to knock again. I pushed against his chest. "Pistols at dawn, a."
"Can Nixon be my second?"
"No, you get no second. I hate you so much right now."

"She's just a girl."
"No." He laughed without humor. "She's not. If she was just a girl I wouldn't be tempted to fall on my own knife.

Short and Sweet!!! Loving this series with all my little heart!! My favorite Mafia family is back with this cool novella about Axton Abandonato and Amy De Lange. Of course it has all the favorite characters in it still, which is even more awesome. Since the book was short, the ending felt a little more rushed to me, no real drama points. Something came up, it was squashed in half a chapter, happily ever after. Still good read though :)

Axton is a sexy alpha male just like his cousins (obviously). After a sting against part of the De Lange family goes wrong, he has to fake his death and become a Ghost like his brother Sergio did. Leaving behind Amy, his best friend and basically love of his life in the process. Flash forward to five years later and he is called out of hiding to go and retrieve Amy. Of course he freaks out a bit, this is scary and he still loves her.

Amy has not been living a good life, placed into foster care because she was only 16 when it all happened, now she is living in a crappy apartment and about to take a job as a stripper. Thankfully Axton rescues her right as she's about to go onstage! Amy's pretty hesitant of trusting Ax and this is a theme for a big part of the book. They are both still very attracted to each other and still have that amazing connection but a lot of time has passed and Amy feels betrayed.

I think Amy is not a very strong character. Doesn't mean I don't like her but she wasn't as strong as Mil or Mo. She can't use the excuse Trace gets, because she did grow up in a De Lange house and knew she was connected to the Mafia. I think maybe she comes off weak because she has tried to survive all this time and has always wanted Ax to come back to her and save her like he said he would. That's OK though. Axton is strong enough for the both of them.

Again, good novella, good filler, can't wait for the rest of them!!!
