I tried to trust the reviews on this product when I purchased it at around $19. There were others on the market for a little more and more reviews but didn’t quite know what I was to expect in a banneton basket yet.So I buy this one from bread bosses. Comes in the mail and looks ok with the cover on. I see everyone use theirs without a cover to get that outline from the bannetons. I wanted that also.I examine the basket without the cover and it looks like complete trash. You can see nails, cracks that aren’t mended with splinters. The dough scraper is cheap and bulky but flimsy. I was so sad. I was going to write a review first but seen the little cards the brand sends you. So I email the guy, Danny. Sent him photos of what it looked like and that it wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted what was expected for my money. It’s not cheap. I ask nicely if I could get a replacement or refund and the guy says yeah and is so nice over email. But sort of unprofessional with the questions. Not in a bad way but just not what I expected.Anyways, he says he’ll send a replacement set.Well it’s been over a week and haven’t had any word and nothing in the mail on my replacement.

A couple of times, I had a dough that stuck (like the one I did that had a lot of calamata olives and garlic, which made it very sticky dough) to the top, but the bread STILL turned out fantastic. I just removed the stuck part and slapped it back onto the bread, and, believe it or not, it worked!
Anyway, I would not bake any more without these. I'm thinking of getting even more. They work for proofing on the countertop, or slow proofing in the refrigerator.

I have now bought several of these bannetons, including both the ovals (I think I bought 3 of these) and the round ones (two, I think). These are great. The cover is nice when working with a bread that is very sticky, but I have also used the bannetons without the cover for regular sourdough.By Rick Horowitz on August 24, 2018

One thing of note: the logo on my scraper flaked off a bit, but the company has resolved the problem for future orders and will send a replacement scraper to anyone having that issue free of charge. I appreciate that kind of customer service!
