The speaker mic includes dual push to talk buttons to work with the new redesigned system on the BaoFeng UV-82.

Designed for use with the UV-82, UV-82X, and UV-82C
It also works on the clone rebranded UV-82s the UV-82L and UV-89

As a perk! - The cable is still backward compatible and can be used on all models of BaoFeng - on models of BaoFeng that do not have the dual push-to-talk system the top button will simply not do anything.

Features:
Has a remote microphone with Dual push to talk button - don't mix up your conversations - the buttons coordinate with your display! The upper / top button will access the upper frequency on your UV-82, while The lower / side button will access the lower frequency on your UV-82.
The plug is the standard Kenwood 2 Prong Plug found on BaoFeng Radios

lower band PT button funky and confusing

The quality of construction, and sound quality of the shoulder mic are very good for this type of device, This item falls short in my opinion because Baofeng chose not to install a rocker type PTT switch like on the UV-82, and a few other radios, but rather decided to just mount a small round pushbutton switch on the top of the case for the second band PTT. It is a location that is a bit difficult to find in low light, and is vulnerable to accidental activation. Therefor I only give this mic a 4. Had they opted for a rocker style PTT, and maintained the same quality otherwise, I would have rated it a 5.

Feels cheaply made, but it does have dual PTT with small button on top. Speaker mic does have decent sound & volume, but not quite worth the $16+ as the reinforcement near 2 prong connector is very weak & will break under typical use requiring extra caution. This is a niche speaker-mic so if you do not absolutely need a dual PTT you should look elsewhere otherwise this is 1 of 2 (that I've found so far) available in the dual PTT design.

After purchasing the other design (it had a speaker jack at bottom of mic) I'm back to ordering another of these as at least with this one both PTT buttons work reliably & you have more than 9" of usable length. From my personal use of both designs I hope somebody makes a third, but until that happens this is the better of the 2. At least with this one the cord is long enough for me to use it with the radio still clipped to my belt, even though the other has a more robust connection at the 2 pin.

It works, yes, but the built-in speaker on the UV82 is SO much better. This shoulder mic just sounds so terrible, hollow, and distorted compared to the great sound of the 82's speaker. I bought it because I was doing SAG support for a bike rally, so I was going to be in and out of my vehicle a lot and didn't want to miss anything, but this speaker mic was unusable. Build quality is pretty poor too. It's cheap, loose, no weight to it, brittle plastic and it rattles.

Works well with my PoFung (yes, mine says PoFung on it instead of BaoFeng) UV-82. The top button for selecting between two active frequencies is handy. No reports of low signal strength or over modulation.

This is an inexpensive speaker mic for an inexpensive HT. it's lighter in your hand than you'd expect. The clip on the back of it looks like it may break off any day now. The coils are tighter than you'd expect with the lightness of the mic, so there's an odd balance in the feel that takes getting used to, but that may change with time.

I bought it to work around reported issues with the internal mic placement on the BaoFeng HT's, but it works well enough so far that I've ordered a Nagoya magnetic vehicle antenna and may make this part of a temporary in-car rig.

Nice little speaker microphone - but weak clip

Purchased this speaker-mic to complement my UV-82. Works great. The only issue I have is remembering to press the top botton to transmit when I'm in dual monitoring mode. A few times folks have called me on channel A and I accidentally keyed and responded on channel B. Oooops! :) I find the speaker-mic most useful when the UV-82 is connected as a base and also on the road as a mobile.

Update: 6/21/16 - works great and better quality audio after drilling out the mic hole as others have commented. Reason I'm dropping the score by 2 stars is the rear clip broke off, so for my use I'll need to by another microphone. :( The spring clip IS NOT very durable - you've been warned.

First, for the price, I would have given this 5 stars if I didn't have to modify it, but I purchased it knowing I would. As another owner did, I took the three screws that holds it together out and carefully moved the mic out of the way. There is one screw that holds the board in place and one plastic retention pin, that will most likely break, which is fine. I then drilled three small holes from the inside out. You could save the disassembly and drill from the front, but you risk punching right into the mic. When I had it all back together, it sounded better than the built in mic on the HT. I have the Baofeng UV-5R2+

A Bit Clumsy For Channel (A) Tx

There are 2 buttons: one PTT button on the top and one rocker-type PTT on the side. The button on top is for the primary station (A) while the button on the side is for station (B). It's a bit awkward to work your primary station with the top button. Grasping the mic puts the side button under your fingers (if right handed) or under your thumb palm (if left handed). Other than the poor ergonomics it is sturdier than most comment and has a durable and rotatable clip. The speaker is fine. I give it a hardy, not enthusiastic, four stars.
