I figured what the heck, it's only around 20 bucks. This has a very high quality feel to it and even a little weight to it. I would suggest get the extended battery. Longer battery life and easier to hold. This can be a little intimidating to operate do to all the settings and functions. I would look up this dude on YouTube that explains all the features. Dude is a little abrasive but actually fun to watch. He can answer nearly any questions on its operation. Buy this radio. Very good starter radio. For a few bucks more you can pick other models that look just like this one but more channels. I myself am still in learning mode as to it's operation. But I do like it.

I was up on a ridge at horsetail falls oregon, 225 ft elev with good line of site and I broadcasted a CQ on 146.52 and hit a basestation 20mi away with clear 2 way T/R. So i bet it coukd hit 25-35 mi. Mind you this is high and unobstructed. But great range for a lil cheap handheld. Batt lasts a long time too and with a mag mount antenna it makes a great car radio.
