I love my Garmin 500, but couldn't find a mounting position that quite worked for me - always felt like I was looking away from the road quite a bit, even when mounted on my handlebars. This little guy, while a touch pricey, is a pretty ingenious solution. Even when looking down at it, you're 1) looking less down than you would have been, and 2) more importantly, you're still looking at the road. The mount is very light but the fit is firm. All in all a really cool mount.

This works well and is sturdy.
It has the advantage of a better viewing angle.
In addition if you are tight for handle-bar space (e.g. from lights, cross-handles for brakes, a problem I had, it takes less room than the standard mount that comes with the Garmin.

I like the mount, does everything it's supposed to do (which is really only to hold my Garmin). It is not as easy to click into as the stock Garmin mount and does warrant a little more pressing and twisting but once you figure out how to get it in it holds the unit tight. I actually crashed in a pack at 25+ mph and went head first into the pavement. I ripped my shoe out of the pedal (breaking both in the process), cracked my helmet, and had some serious road rash and stitches, but my 800 never left its cradle on the bars. For that alone I can look past the tricky and tight mounting process and give it 5 stars!

It is a rigid piece of plastic with one hex screw; probably cost 30 cents to make. And as others have said it ONLY fits 31.8mmm bars unless you want to put a lot of extra handle bar tape on. But yes, it does what it says it is supposed to any nobody forced me to buy it. I just hope Garmin gets some of this feed back.

Ok, if your looking for a great mount for your Garmin, then you found it

This takes your Garmin Edge bike computer and puts it on your handlebars about 2 inches in front of bars, and you can adjust to exactly the right angle.

Much better than OEM mount, so much better and safer, especially if you want to actually look at your Garmin while your riding.

So for form and functionality, the Bar Fly is really fly, very, very nice, several people have commented on mine, said they were going to home to order, so this sure fills a niche.

Garmin plugs into this snuggly, and securely, would have no issue with leaving Garmin in mount for long ride on top, or on back, of car in all the wind, no way Garmin would come off.

This would be a five star slam if it wasn't for the price, $39.95, for two little pieces of plastic, come on, really?

I am fine with making money for original ideas, and this is a good one, but that's a lot of money for two pieces of plastic.

Bottom line, I bought it, I like it, it looks good on the bike, and it is safer for sure, is that worth $40, to me it was.

This makes it much easier to see and glance at your screen while riding. Solid product made of durable material and the mount fits tight enough that I don't worry about losing my CPU while riding - no matter the road. I think this grips a little better than the proprietary Garmin mount.

Not bad, but go with the 2.0. I bought this initially for one of my bikes. Great item and built well, haven't had any issues with it. I prefer the Barfly 2.0 position better. Also with my Garmin Edge 800, it doesn't positively click in like the Bar Fly 2.0 or original Garmin mount does. It is more of a light friction click and I have to center it to get it to point dead straight. Oddly enough I've tried it with the Garmin Edge 500 and it clicks in no issue. My friends Edge 800 does the same thing on his mount as well.

Overall the Bar Fly 2.0 clicks much better into my device and I prefer the look of it mounted lower in front of the stem.

It came several days late but the real reason that I returned it is that the Edge500 is a really tight fit. I read some reviews about it causing the mounting tabs on the Edge500 to crack or break off. I can see how it could happen. It looked like the tension tabs keep the 500 from properly sliding under the restraint ridges and I can imagine that someone would try to place the 500 and twist without the it being seated far enough into the holder. So either it is a problem with inserting the 500 far enough before locking it in or the tension is just too high and puts too much tension on the 500's tabs. It needs a slight tolerance adjustment.
