However, this foot rail was surprisingly difficult to install, and I've installed one of almost everything. Let me tell you why: The cast brackets, while beautiful and artisanal, are every one slightly different. I only used two of the brackets because I only needed 5' of foot rail, but had I needed the third bracket for an 8' rail, I would have had to either modify or exchange the product, because the brackets just did not line up with each other. Also, the shape of the brackets completely obstructs on-axis access to the screw holes. Expect to do a lot of rolling around on the floor to get this installed, You will need to pre-drill everything, and bring your stubby screwdrivers. Also, the last step is to drive self tapping set screws through a hole in the bracket, into the tube rail. On one of my brackets this hole was pointed nearly at the floor. I would have never got that screw in without my 90 degree Dewalt drill.
The diagram (Downloaded, not included. There were no instructions.) for the floor/ bar brackets states that hole should be drilled 6.50" up from the floor. This is not the case, as the brackets will not touch the floor. Holes drilled at 6.25" work well and allow the brackets to perform as designed.
Sliding the brackets onto the tubing dry will result in marring the brushed tubing. A lubricant, such as WD40 prevents this.
The end caps were a sloppy fit into the tubing, but a single layer of masking tape made them a good press fit.
Overall, a great looking product! Unfortunately, the one star down grade is the result of a lack of a good drilling diagram and installation instructions plus poor prepacking inspection.
