About the author

Jane Sutcliffe thinks nonfiction rocks. She is a children's book author, school visit presenter, library lover, and the owner of one very spoiled dog named Willy. Her nonfiction books include AMELIA EARHART, MILTON HERSHEY, WALT DISNEY and LEONARDO'S MONSTER. Her latest books, STONE GIANT: MICHELANGELO'S DAVID AND HOW HE CAME TO BE, THE WHITE HOUSE IS BURNING: AUGUST 24, 1814, and WILL'S WORDS: HOW WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE CHANGED THE WAY YOU TALK are out now from Charlesbridge.

Also the author states that Obama tried drugs... not something I want my child to know until she is old enough to understand. Not needed as the role of president is a role model for many young children.
Folks should know they are urging all the posters on their website to come over to Amazon and post their negative comments re two paragraphs in Jane Sutcliffe's bio "Barack Obama."
As a retired teacher I would have changed some of the wording, ie "our future president" instead of "Barry" and perhaps be less explicit re drugs, smoking and alcohol since this is for fourth graders.
But overall the biography tells a good story about our president, his multi-cultural background and upbringing, emphasizing that we all can accomplish our dreams.
